Do you feel so because you don't think Wenger is decisive enough to part with the large sums of money that would be required to force Liverpool to sell him to us or because you don't feel Wenger will want a cunt like him in our team?

My agreement to your assessment of it being the least likely of all serious rumours is based on the former reason.

Bit of both. Most of all I think Wenger would go for someone else if we were willing to throw that much money on a single transfer. I'd certainly expect to get a better player than Suarez in exchange for £40 million.

Like who? The only other "marquee" striker in the market right now is Lewandowski. And whilst I'll prefer him over Suarez it is only because of Suarez's bad attitude.

The point is that if we're willing to spend £40 million on someone now then we were willing to spend £40 million on someone in march, or april, or early june. There were better strikers available then and there are better ways to invest that money now.

Who do you reckon for £40mill would be better Klaus?

which strikers are better (that we could get for £40 mill)?

imo, he's the best out there that we could get for £40 mill.

How many strikers couldn't you get for £40m?

Exactly. And not just strikers. £40 million would buy you most players in the world.

Most top strikers. Tell me who can you get for 40m nowadays thats better than Suarez? Name them

That's not the question though is it?

You couldn't buy any striker better than Suarez for less than £40m IMO. He's the best player in the league alongside Van Persie. He's also a massive twat if you want to take that into consideration.

It would be a much better use of resources to get someone like Higuain for 22m-ish, and Gustavo or Bender for 20m-ish.

Suarez is probably the best player we could get for 40m, but it's not the best way to spend the money.

don't think we'll get higuain for 22 mill. probably have to go closer to 25-26.

Regardless, I'd rather spend about 45-50 million on two top players in positions where we really need them, than spend 40m on Suarez even though he's a fantastic player.

When assesing what Suarez is worth, for me the only relevant question is - would he lift us from being way off the pace barely rans to being genuine contenders?
If yes, then he's worth £40m, if no, then spend the money elsewhere.

Given that he would not play for us until late September, and given his screwed up nature, I do not think he's the player to take us higher and that's even before I consider the damage he could do to the club's reputation.
His misdemeanors and Liverpool's reaction to them have turned them into a joke.

Just sign Higuain and a powerful midfield presence for the £35m plus

£35 mill wouldn't get us that. it would get us higuain and some shitty midfielder from ligue 1. no thanks jeff!

I said £35m plus....
I said it because £35m is the amount we've allegedly bid for Suarez, meaning that is probably in and around as high as we'll bid, Kelly

i think this will be rejected and will put in a final offer at £40 mill. gut feeling.
