This time last year Ornstein tweeted that van Persie was looking forward to coming back to Arsenal and was keen to stay - a few days later he released THAT statement.

He's not sensationalist at all and can be trusted with repeating the club in question's official stance on a matter, but he does get things wrong sometimes.

He also said Sahin was set to join us.

Yeah but we know its true that Sahin was set to join us so whats your point?

What do you think of Fellaini Rick?

He's a good player, though I don't see where/how he'd fit in here, and for that reason I don't think we're interested. I wouldn't be over the moon if we did actually sign him either. A team with him playing as an attacking midfielder wouldn't play in a way that I like watching and I don't think he's worth the money as a centre midfielder. I'd be a little underwhelmed by it. Similar kind of story with Higuain, who's also a good player, but not a great player, and not a perfect fit for us.

Higuain would fit us very well imo. Agree with Fellaini though.

I keep hearing he's too expensive. Can we have a few names please of these footballers who are cheaper and/or better? I'm guessing they won't have the PL experience, physical presence or versatility that Fellaini offers either.

We have at least one in the squad already who's better as an attacking midfielder if that's where we're going to play Fellaini. There are plenty who are better as central mids.

Diaby?

He's a crock, and can't be counted on.

Klaus. The lad who serves up Friday nights dinner at me local Chinese says he "no pray much football" but the when he does he "rikes to pray reft back"

How hip would that be if we said we think he'd be perfect for us in a few years

I just think midfielders like Fellaini are ten a penny. When he's pushed up against the centrebacks, he's a good player, not a player I like watching, but productive. When playing deeper, sure, he's big and strong, but not particularly mobile, not a particularly good passer of the ball, and not particularly clever or tactically astute. I don't see what he'd offer us there that Alex Song, for example, didn't? Right down to the slow passing and lazy/poor tackling.

Diaby?

What? 😐 No. Cazorla, of course.

He should be bought in as the trequartista. We should also buy Kevin Davies.

--------------Giroud-------------
--------Davies------Fellaini-------

Play full on route one football. Screw tiki taka and screw counter attacking football. Leave humongous gaps in the middle and tear Allardyce a new one. Woohoo Good times. -_-

Spot on with the last point. People who don't like Diaby won't like Fellaini in our system as well. Always looked languid and lazy.

Ah, in Armor's post above yours he referenced "physical presence" so I thought you meant Diaby.

I wouldn't be underwhelmed by signing Fellaini because i think he's a very good player, but i would definitely be interested to see what we had planned for him. He doesn't really fit in to a team structure, but he's a hugely destructive presence both with and without the ball. Think he's at his best when given a lot of freedom to play where he wants.

Fellaini can successfully play at CF, AM and in both of the other CM spots in our system. How is that a square peg?

Let's get this straight he's no center forward. He's not even in Santi class when trying to play AM, or the discipline and tactical awareness to play CM. Only thing that's going for him his that he's a big bloke and he's got weird hair.
