I too think RvP is the better player, but if we had the choice of signing either, Rooney could give so much more overall.

Doesn't matter what "most" thought, it's very clear that there was and still is a difference in opinion from some.

United fans hated van Persie's guts and they now love him. If we sign Rooney, we'll grow to love the cunt too. It's just the way it is, it is almost impossible to despise anyone wearing the colours and doing a good job. Show a bit of passion and a kiss of the badge and his United days will be forgotten.

There's a guy on twitter who's dad works for the club and he himself also seems to visit Colney regulary and yesterday he claimed that Rooney and Jack are both in Portugal. He mentioned it regarding where Arsenal players are vacationing.

i think wenger is interested in rooney, but i don't think we'll end up signing him for various reasons.

Van Persie was easily better than Rooney last season and he was marginally better the previous season.
The rise versus the fall - whether or not Rooney can regain his 11/12 form I guess depends on his relationship with his new manager and how he will be deployed in the team.
I think he may end up with Jose at Chelsea.

I really wanted him, but i guess CFC looking more likely. If they don't get Cavani, Mou would want ANY striker better than Torres. Who else better than Rooney is available!?

If the only criterion is 'better than Torres', then there are plenty of players available.
If I am to be serious, what Chelski needs is a striker with good link up play and, decent movement and decent finishing. Must be a dream to be a striker playing behind the attacking talent they have.

Don't think we'll get Rooney but can see us being in for another striker of a similar style.
