So, it was not thought, by me.

FFS! We're nearly a whole week past the end of the season and we haven't signed anyone yet. Now we've lost Higuain.

What the fck are Wenger and Gazidis doing?!! This club is sht. Sack the board. Sack Wenger. Sack everybody!

F*ckers.

not too bothered if he goes to juve

Well we have signed Sanogo...but I get the point. Signings take time and haggling. The summer is young, many players are yet to go on strike, many smarmy agents are yet to plant stories in the press...

Defending Champions or fighting for 4th place?

have you ever been to torino? it's a shithole, and the weather's just as bad as london. and the prospect of playing in a corrupt league in front of fewer fans than the championship in england...

i know wenger and gazidis have lowered standards, but arsenal is and should be a much more attractive destination than juve for any non-italian.

Perhaps I wasn't clear in my post that I was channelling the days of The Lobby over on A-M...

No, I picked up on that. You're not exactly known for foaming at the mouth Asterix.

What is an Average Premier League Striker? Or have they averaged the conversion rates of all EPL strikers?

The latter.

Orbinho also compared Higuain Benzema and Jovetic stats. Higuain's one is very impressive.

Ah well, regressing. Dont want.πŸ˜‰

Where do you get those conversion stats? What's Benteke's?

That stat came from @Orbinho on Twitter, a gooner who IIRC also works for Opta (so has access to those stats). Worth a follow.

Yes, Asa, the comparison with Giroud would be strikingβ€”also think that his conversion rate would be well ahead of Walcott. That efficiency is undeniable.

Walcott was one of the most efficient players in the league through around March time, at about 22% by the same measure. I don't know where he ended up...

Probably around that mark. Walcott is a superb finisher.

I also sometimes forget the value of not doing things in sports. Not taking bad, speculative potshots is actually a valuable skill in soccer just like not taking a bad shot is a good skill in basketball. Or not fouling. Or not giving away penalties or not turning the ball over. Seems higgy doesn't shoot unless it is a good opportunity. This helps keep possession and the attacking move going. No 40 yard Giroud shots for him.

We should be going for Soldado if we missed out on Higuain. That guy is a proper goalscorer as well. If we start the season with Giroud as first choice again and Spurs get Soldado then....

Buy Higuain Wenger!

What a shit manager. Klopp would've turned around, gave the fan a hug, bought him a pint and discussed his transfer plans in great detail.

Soldado is a definitive no for me. Guy is so hit and miss and frustrating bordering on Giroud levels.

Valencia are in financial difficulty no?
Very likely he will be sold.
Is he really as frustrating as Giroud?

Smart fan there. Planting the seeds in Wenger's subconscious mind with super-liminal messaging.

A frustratation bordering on Giroud levels who actually scores 25 goals a season?

Giroud scores 17 goals and makes 10 assists yet he still makes you pull your hair out. Soldado miscontrols easy balls and squanders clear cut chances just like our French striker. Barely any vision for his team mates either.

Soldado has scored 113 goals in 206 matches for Valencia and Getafe since 2008. His record speaks for itself.

Gomez has 111 in 173. His record is incredible and I still wouldn't want the donkey.

Wonder if mandzukic will be available. Don't strike me as a pep player

Sammer came out and guaranteed that Robben would stay after the champions league final. Will be interesting to see if there is a culture clash there in relation to what he wants v. what Pep wants.

May well be Caps, may well be...

Pep's going to Bayern at an awkward time for him. Their squad is very well stocked and they've just won all they can - he has a tough job to not only improve them but to hold steady.

If you could swipe 3 players from them, who would ya go for?

I'd go Kroos, Lahm and Martinez

Schwiensteiger, Neuer and Muller probably. Ribery is a better choice given our team, but he's a proper prick and troublemaker.

He's got a great set of players and not much competition in the league. Unless he turns out to be a disaster he won't have to do too much to maintain a respectable level of success (league wins, cup wins, latter stages of CL).

But even that is a slight backwards step. Best he can do is tread water.
