The thing about Kompany is that he spent most of his time at Hamburg sulking over some personal loss. He was in and out of the team a lot and people openly questioned his mentality. He also suffered a difficult achilles injury. I wouldn't have moved for him at the time.

Remember there was people saying they think Yaya's stamina can't last a single game? The lad was running even during injury time like crazy! Would have been so perfect for us.

Ricky, if you could pick players from City you will only take Kompany? I would snatch Yaya, Silva, Aguero, Tevez within a heartbeat. Is Adam Johnson leaving City? We could do with him as well.

Clichy had a superb game yesterday, I think thats the best I have seen him play since his debut season for us.

clichy was amazingly solid. he's been a mixed bag as usual this season, but this was his best game since 2008.

the main thing i envy about city is their physical presence. they're a team of skillful brutes in the mould of our 2002-2005 team, but with slightly less pace.

I'm just saying Kompany is the one I'd take first, Clarence, before anyone else.

AntG made a very good point about those praising Clichy on A-M; in reality he's no better or no worse than what he was here, we just judge him from a far greater distance (even if the different system might possibly help hide a fault here or there). I thought he was decent last night, but he still made a number of bad moves, still playing deeper and with lots of help suited him.

He played well yesterday and, right now, is better than Gibbs or Santos but I'm not losing any sleep over him.

For all the Yaya and Kompany praise, Lescott and Barry were City's two best players yesterday. Both superb.

Barry is criminally underrated, in my opinion. Works like a donkey for the team. He's no world beater, but he's a very reliable and dependable player.

I was really into it in the last 15 minutes or so though. Almost like an Arsenal game. kept thinking United would throw the kitchen sink at some point but it never happened.

He was brilliant yesterday. Nobody notices him in games though. If City wins the league make no mistake he is a big part and reason for that as well.

Barry and Lescott are English.

If they were called Barriano and Lescotte they'd be as praised as Vertoghen and Koscielny.

Having said that I prefer Toure and Kompany.
