Ah seriously, if we're getting Cesc that's it. There will be no Jovetic or anyone else in the plus £15million bracket.

Anyway, I can't stand Giroud and I don't particularly fancy seeing him up front for another season. But we would score a lot more goals with Fabregas in the team. He would make Walcott and Podolski work better too.

The simple truth is that one player won't be enough this summer no matter how good he is though. Doesn't matter whether it's a striker or a playmaker. Unless Ibrahimovic fancies a move to London I can't see any striker out there who would improve our attacking game more than Cesc would.

We don't necessarily need to, due to the sell on clause. If someone bids 50m, we can bid 25m and Barca end up with the same amount of money.

I think someone at barca dismissed the 50% sell on clause a while back.
Regardless of that, seems unlikely they would try sell a player with a 50% sell on clause to raise funds.

Giroud isn't a patch on what Adebayor was back then. Go look at a compilation of Adebayors goals from that period. He had so much more going for him than Giroud.

No denying that Adebayor had a lot more in his locker. I liked him too that season. Giroud has scored 17 goals in this team, though, without any clear sense of where and when chances are being created (which partly is his own fault). Cazorla is the only one in the attacking half who can play an unexpected pass every now and then.

We would still be blunt up front and it would probably cost us in tight games, but across a league season you can get away with an oafish striker like him if you are brilliant in other areas.

He's not the right striker to play ahead of Fabregas though. He's a player for a team with crossers on the wings, not through balls from the midfield.

True, he was at his most prolific when Theo was playing well and feeding him from the right with the kind of ball he thrives on.
Benefitted from Podolski's run of form post Christmas as well.

He's a bit of both in my opinion. He was a pretty decent finisher in France. Fabregas would buy him a few extra tenths of a second to compensate for his slow feet.

I would spend every penny on Cesc if there was any chance of getting him. No brainier imo. If ever the was a risk free big money signing it would be that one.

If PSG or anyone else would make a £50m offer we would only have to offer Barcelona £25+ to make it a better deal for them. In essence, IF Fabregas is eligible for a move he is well within our budget because of that sell on clause.
