Adebayor is great when there is a fire under him (year left, wants more money, loan deal, playing agaisnt old club) once he is settled he basically goes missing.

Fabregas we should be fighting tooth and nail for though even if the deal was on teh card we would prefer to take the 50% of a sale to another team I reckon.

I doubt it's 50% of the transfer value, it's probably more likely to be 50% of any profit over and above what we sold him for.

Not sure where this 50% thing is coming from, but every single news source reported that Cesc has a buy-back amount exclusive to Arsenal and if I remember correctly, Wenger confirmed it at one point. It's either 30 or 35 million.

The 50% thing is at least a real rumour—can't remember the source though, but wouldn't be in the least surprised if it's bullshit. Some sort of sell-on seems plausible though.

I am not sure about this. Firstly why would we spend 30 mill on him if we have no plans to challenge for the title? I mean we never won the title even when we had him AND RvP, Nasri etc. And isn't that why he left?

Secondly unless we are willing to invest in a Striker/other areas of squad spending 30 mill on him just to be in top 4 sounds a bit daft to me. No he is not gonna win the PL/CL for us with this squad.

Also even if Barca do wanna sell him, whats stopping him from going to Juve or Milan or even Man City? Atleast he is guranteed to win something there and its not that those teams would not pay up for him.

So i don't see it happening. Its rather more likely that Man City may put up 40 mill for him and we get half of it via the sell on clause.

We would spend that on him to make challenging for the title part of our plans.

RVP and Fabregas were barely ever fit together. When they were, we looked good for 100 goals and pretty much amongst the mix.

Not sure. Plus even in England, he'd have his pick of teams. Scholes and Lampard need replacements. He can form a devastating partnership with Yaya Toure at Citeh. Other teams like Milan and PSG would love to have a guy like him running the show. It certainly wouldn't be a foregone conclusion that he would land here. We are known to be spineless, so teams would compete hard if Fabregas became available.

He'd only consider coming here if Barca really wanted him out and we were on the cusp of greatness. And he felt he could come back and help us over the line.
Im sure he wakes up screamin about the Diaby-Denilson-Cesc-Eboue midfield. He carried this team for so long, to be honest i think it improved him. But I doubt he wants to relive that.

What he did was wrong, but I do have a certain degree of sympathy for him.

It was his boyhood club, it would be like one of us having the opportunity to join Arsenal. Don't say that you wouldn't do everything you could to join Arsenal if you were in his position.

The chance to join your favourite team, go back to your own city, be close to family and friends, speak your language and be surrounded by your own culture, better weather etc.

He's human after all, not an über-professional cyborg, so it is understandable to be honest. Plus there was the added bonus of trophies and more opportunities in the Spanish national team.

Cesc did go on strike but he didn't sign for a rival like VP and his showings in europe meant he could have left as early as 2006. He stuck around and got fed up of wenger not going that extra mile in buying players. In 07-08, 09-10 and 10-11 we were within a couple of points till March.
