I agree he used to really control games around 2006-2008 but I think Wenger saw him as a more effective player high up the pitch. He was great at making runs and his finishing in general was top notch, he also had the ability to pick a final pass. One of Wenger's biggest mistakes as an Arsenal manager was letting Xabi Alonso slip through our fingers for the sake of a few million back in 2008, having him behind controlling the game and Fabregas higher up would of been a sight to behold. Yes I'm still bitter about it!!!!!

However players like Flamini or Hleb on the other hand I think were able to do so and that is why our midfield back then had good balance.

didn't cesc consistently cover the most distance during matches of all our players? 12-13 km every game.

As for your comments about us not getting worse since he left well, well that is because RvP last season had one of the best seasons a striker has ever had in this league last year and this season if we finish Top 4 it will be due to us having a more rounded squad and being less reliable on one player. We have Podolski with 9 league goals, Theo & Giroud on 11 and Santi on 12. So almost 4 players with 10+ league goals, Arteta + Gervinho have both got 5+ goals. I think this season we have had a bit more depth and stability in our squad as well. We've had better options than in the past when it comes to our defence and midfield.

Agreed with that. For no reason he got moved up and he started adapting there. A player of his quality is always going to be good everywhere, although he really struggled at first.

Recently he replaced Messi in a match at false 9 and scored a hattrick. I think that will be his best position now, although not natural. He lack proper pace to be natural there imo.

Love Fabregas. Would give anything to have him back, had enough of the emotionless fucks currently wearing the shirt. Seeing some of our players faces when we're loosing just kills me, they don't care and take very little pride in doing what's required of them. They show up and if they win, great, otherwise it's just too bad and they accept that the opposition is better and they can't do anything about it. Not heart or drive, nothing.

I have reservations about the idea because I'm not sure of his attitude.
He's brilliant though and having seen the absolute toil that was our offensive effort today it would be an ease and a pleasure to watch him spot those openings that nobody else sees.

And, imo, not only is he the best player we've been linked with (tenuously!), if he is to move this summer he'll be the best player on the market full stop.

so what? no player short of messi or cronaldo would single-handedly get us back to serious contention. we're not getting them, so we should just go die in a hole and not even try?

we're not getting fabregas, but if we did, it'd go a long way in returning us to respectability.

i'm amazed that some people accuse fabregas and van persie of giving up on the team, when we've all done the same. we all know we're shit and that kroenke/wenger/gazidis aren't going to do what it takes to ctrl+z that. fabregas and van persie aren't allowed to draw the same conclusions?
