Even Ibrahimovich knows about what happens when you clash with Messi for a spot.
Would be surprised if Fabregas left though. He can still learn to be a CM in Xavi's role. That's what he was supposed to be 10 years ago.

I'd be very surprised if he gave up so quickly, particularly when he's said he wants to end his career there.
The reasons for him leaving here haven't really changed

Yeah, for all his genius he is quite a flawed player. I thought of it last time when he was here, our midfield is always very easy to bypass with him inside. It was amplified during his stint at Barca now, he simply can't cut it in a very very top and close match with little room for error and 100% commitment needed. He is now really world class only as a false 9 imo, or in a side that have enough runners and energy to carry him.

Still, I would take him any day of the week.

It's either of the two that apply. If we don't buy then the sell-on otherwise the first option.

It would make it interesting though With the 50% sell on clause. In reality, if another club put in a £40m we'd only have to bid £20+ for it to be a better deal for Barcelona.

I think the more interesting question here should be - who will be Barcelona manager next season? I find it quite likely that Vilanova will get the sack. In that scenario I think the sale of Cesc is out of the question.

It's rubbish. Regularly used to be the player who covered the most grass here.

His engine is fine, problem is positioning.

I think his positioning "problem" looked worse than it was though because he was one of the few players who consistently pressed, a bit like Ramsey I guess.

Would be very harsh, if he doesn't step down for health reasons I'm sure Barca will stick with him.

Also, don't think we've been able to consistently dominate teams or create chances at the Emirates without Cesc since we moved there. Even this season, though it's been better than it was last year.

There isn't anything wrong with either Cesc's positioning nor his engine.

He is simply not a midfielder though. For me he is a proper number 10 and one of the best in the world.

If in any season Cesc and RVP would have been fit at the same time for even 75% of our matches we would have won the League.

Left me with lingering doubts over his ability to be strong when things aren't going his way.
They're not going his way at Barca and he's not coping with that very well either.

I thought Fabregas' best position was deeper in midfield, that was where he played between 2006-2008 when he routinely dominated every big team he faced. When he moved further forward, I think he struggled and as a consequence we lost out in the tighter matches.

I agree, although in fairness he was still quite young to be made captain.

He was better against the smaller teams further forward but it seemed like he didn't have the physicality to get away with playing there in the biggest games. It was too easy for a Mascherano-like DM to mark him out of those matches in his last few seasons.

Anybody who thinks Cesc isn't committed should see that Stoke game in which Ramsey got broken. He was amazing that day. I think in his last season he'd had enough of Wenger surrounding him with crap. He looked broken in the 3-3 draw at the lane (We were leading 3-1) which happened 2 days after Eboue gave away a penalty in the 97th minute.

Cesc is simply one of the best footballers on the planet. Can boss and win games from deep or at 10. He was brilliant for us, although you could tell his heart wasn't in it for the last 6 months or so. And even now at Barca he's still playing well, its just a bit weird to see such a great player being slightly marginalized.

We'll win the league with that. Won't happen though. Unless something crazy happened like usmanov took over and gave funds, to a manager willing to take risks to win.
