I agree that when he left us it was more for ambition and to play for Barca, but now after a few years and a heavy dose of reality he may have a different perspective, he has no manc DNA (as far as I know) so if it does happen we'll know why.
I believe Van Persie's primary motivation was also ambition and in that I agree with Kami (you can't really blame him), but whatever the motivation I cannot abide an ex-Arsenal player going to Man Utd (or Tottenham) call me an old wooden head but I simply can't accept it.

Agreed Biggus. For players who were our captains and amongst the greatest players in our history and certainly in top few of the last decade it just doesn't bare thinking about. Him playing for United alongside Van Persie would just about be the end for me. When we sold our captain and best player to them last summer I said we had finally reached the bottom and the only way from there was up. Got it a bit wrong I think.

There is always room for top class players but an AM is probably the least of our concerns with Cazorla, Wilshere and Rosicky all vying for the spot. A striker of the highest calibre and a physical DM are much more important positions that need to be filled out which would make Cesc a bit of a luxury signing moving Cazorla to the left and Wilshere deeper. Don't get me wrong it'd be fantastic but there are more pressing needs. However, the prospect of seeing Cesc in a United shirt should probably outweigh all rational reasoning and Wenger would need to get the finger out fast to prevent that from happen and bring him home instead.

lol what a slap in the face to wenger it would be if van persie and fabregas ended up at united together, winning titles and scoring shitloads of goals. i mean, it would be infuriating, but you have to see the humour in that scenario.

Either he just isn't available or somebody is inviting interest from specific club(s).

Man, that would be a bleak joke for us, cold and bleak as winter like one of those old Norse jokes about getting stabbed to death with a spear.

I think Cesc won't move this window, but if Barcelona do tip him off to his expendability, I fervently hope we are in there for at least the £26m that it's reported United bid. We have the money and he's certainly worth it.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I think it's telling that he says over and over again that Cesc want's to stay, yet not once does he say that he wants Cesc to stay. His comment on competition for places and playing time for Cesc also is as clear an indication as any that he's far from being an automatic starter.
