And more goals than last season when van Persie was in the form of his life. We're still awful in front of goal.

I thought we were pretty shit to watch last season. I haven't actually enjoyed watching us since Cesc left.

Right now we can't be worried about aesthetics. It's all about points and trophies. Beautiful football will follow.

Are you suggesting that Fabregas wouldn't improve us significantly?

Agree, but we often really struggle to create and miss that quality that Cesc gave us.

I think last season was the worst football under wenger

Santi has helped us this year

It's got nothing to do with aesthetics. We've barely dominated a handful of games since Fabregas left.

He's a quality footballer and, if he played alongside Cazorla and Wilshere, I'd hope that he wouldn't be reduced to being a number 10.

I'd happily watch Giroud up front for another season if Fabregas was supplying the passes.

Cesc would also improve Theo significantly in my opinion.

But Nela suggested we haven't been good to watch since Cesc left.

That's not why we should be bringing him back and as an ideal, I couldn't care less about how good we look.

Wins and trophies is what we need.

We are getting the same amount of points though. That could be due to a better defence though.

Would take him back in a heartbeat. We didn't get the best out of him in his last few seasons because of injury, but a fully fit Cesc alone would make us title contenders just like he did in 2008. He's that good.

Anyway, I think the story is full of crap, but humoring it for a second, am I naive to think he'd want to come back here rather than go anywhere else?

We're winning the same amount though and reaching similar point totals.

I used to think like that but after the last two seasons I definitely care about watching a proper team of gifted footballers strut their stuff. If anything, in the absence of winning of trophies, the least I'd expect is to watch some skill or technique that gets me excited.

And, more to the point, high quality football is closely linked with teams that achieve success.

Correlation not causation and all that.

Tony: The simple fact is that we would have finished outside Europa League without him in his last couple of seasons here. He's got the best final pass in the world which is reason enough to take him back. Even a two-bob player like Giroud would score hatfuls with Cesc behind him. Leaving aside the fact that he's a prick who refused to play in order to get his move he would be an insane signing. Absolutely ridiculous.

True.

But we've all laughed at Chelsea and Liverpool in the past 8 years.

Goals get me excited first and wins. The good football is secondary for me.

Last time Cesc had a fully fit season was 07/08 and he nearly won us the league. Was a similar story in 09/10 but then he got injured towards the end and as a result we fell short. The other seasons he barely played over 20 games and usually those were disrupted by injury.

I think he's great and would have him back. He's not the sole answer to going back to the top because when he was here with Nasri, RVP, Song, Henry and many others we won sweet FA.

Without Cesc we achieved the CL anyway.

I think Xavi has a better final pass but I prefer Cesc's game for the PL. More dynamic.

Football is a team game.

The 07/08 team was good all round. Cesc was a major part of that.

Easiest way back to the top is to sign great players. That's pretty much all. This team + Cesc > This team without Cesc.
