Don't we have a buy back option on his contract? I can imagine many teams comfortably outbidding us.
That person is going a bit over the top saying he is one of the worst in La Liga. Part of his problem is he has Iniesta and Xavi playing in his favoured positions. They have bought him in as more of a statement than anything else, I think they wanted to bring in all their home grown players who were doing well elsewhere. They did the same with Pique and more recently Jordi Alba.
Also I think he isn't really a player suited for their tiki taka style, he was always linked more to R.Madrid in the past and funnily enough I think he would of done a lot better there than at Barca! When he first came there a lot of fans appreciated his much more direct style of play but that isn't the way Barca play, I recall Pep was worried about his positional sense and worked on that but his work got cut short. Unless I'm mistaken he has reached double figures for goals and assists in both his seasons there, second highest goal scorer behind Messi for them this season. He is a player who shouldn't need to worry about what is going on behind him but focus more on what is in front. He can play the deeper role though as well, I remember his performance at the Bernabau when we beat them he put in a world class performance playing deeper. Wenger saw he could do a lot more because he is very gifted finisher and I think his final ball is among the best in World football.
I think we have first option and also possibly a share if they sell him on for profit. I can't remember the exact details though.
