What has financial fair play got to do with Madrid spending so much money? Their P&L statement will still show them comfortably in the black.

The Football Federation in Spain needs to start distributing the TV money. That is the root of the inequalities in that league.

The Spanish league is a joke with Barcelona and Real monopolising most of the revenue, people should remember that its not Barcelona's wonderful tikky takky system thats made them so successful its their wonderful (and expensive) players.

There is nothing in FFP that "ensures" it. You want provisions curtailing expenditure of clubs that spend the money their business is making now, following years of success and popularity built on the back of it?

I am not saying that the playing field has been level and fair through the years but FFP wasn't intended to re-write history.

Well, it's not like a salary and transfer cap would be that outlandish a concept. It would have no chance whatever of working and it would be a disaster, but it's not that weird.

If FFP works to protect the incumbency of the richest clubs it's good for us right now and might put paid to a few of the upstarts.

Yes thats the best argument for it, it gives "old money" clubs like us a distinct advantage, but again we're back to- What for?

Yeah, salary caps just won't work. Locally they can but when are are continental competitions they won't be justified. UEFA can't impose blanket caps, that will be the prerogative of individual associations.
