I know many feel like they've been let down too many times before and expect no different. But I think the circumstances are very different this time. It's not even that we've for more money to piss away, but the expectations are just too high now for the club to back out of. Arsenal will definitely sign a top player and break their transfer record. They'll probably get two big money (£20m+). I'm not too worried at this stage. I still feel the easiest way to improve our team is getting our incredibly talented youngsters to man up. Ramsey, Walcott, Wilshere, Chamberlain are exceptional talents and they have to step up regardless of whether we get a 'star' to help us out.

We've already done what Fergie did. He paid over the odds for top young talent like Rooney ad Ferdinand that quickly went on to become the heartbeat of the team. Our boys have had enough time to settle in. They should deliver now.

I have theory about our 'lack of major transfer movement' till now.

I think all/most of our transfer targets think/believe they can do better. Everyone is dreaming of a RM or a Barca or Juve or Chelsea or PSG etc

I am sure we have agreements in place with a few players but its just a question of execution. The last few years have been crazy with regards to transfer fees and player salaries. It still is. The ridiculousness of it all has a lot of people (players and agents) wanting to cash in and thinking 'winning the CL with Barca would be amazing'.

I think as the windows nears closure suddenly a LOT of players would be becoming available and 'wanting to play for Arsenal'

Wait he PLAYS for Madrid and wants to leave them.
Madrid is just going to hand him over to Barca?
PSG? Yeah why not? Already have Ibrahimovic and signing Cavani. Why not swap one bench for another during world cup year?
Juve? Already have 6 strikers on board but hey maybe they will pay my wage in 6 installments like when tried to pay for my transfer.
Chelsea? Maureen had so much trust in me that he benched me for all the big games.

Pretty sure, based on the substantial information that has been leaked including his daddy-agent's statement that they'd been authorised to talk to us, that Higuain has already agreed personal terms with us for what it's worth. Madrid are the problem.

Even the dailys are fed up of the Higuain story now - Mirror are going back to reporting our quest to sign Cesar, it's on again apparently.
They've thrown Wiliams into the equation as well now that Vermaelen's injured.

I highly doubt Madrid suddenly feel the need to be compensated more for Higuain than the initial valuation. It's possible that with top quality striker options shrinking they want to first complete the deal for a Higuain replacement before allowing him to leave. Madrid aren't Arsenal. They won't let a striker leave before being sure of signing an adequate replacement. Ibrahimovic may not want to leave PSG, they may think Suarez isn't worth $ 50 Million and Rooney may not want to move out of England. Other than these forwards who else could Madrid possibly consider good enough? El Sharaawy may be? Options are few and the risk is high.

Far fetched but may be Real and Arsenal are working in cahoots to unsettle Suarez 😉

When have we ever done that in the way United did with those 2?

Walcott and Chambo were quite expensive, not in Rooney's and Ferdinand's league in terms of expenditure though.

Yeah, who gives a fuck. The point was quite obvious - we've invested a lot in terms of playing time too. They've had a couple of seasons and now we should be expecting more from them.
