People view Sam as the polar opposite of Wenger?
Is that why they'd welcome him here?
The big fat no nonsense pragmatist.
Well I couldn't see him returning us to the top.

For CEO's and financial management yes.
I'd imagine the coaching staff wages are in line with our priorities.
Thread's going off topic now. Amazed it lasted 3 pages.
Where's it gone off topic?
@ Lagos
You want Big Sam to take over from Wenger? He won't be winning us the league title
General Mirth wrote:Thread's going off topic now. Amazed it lasted 3 pages.
Well we're all Arsenal fans here GM, and as the thread is about which PL manager you rate it's only natural that the topic will turn to which one of them you'd have here.
Speaking for myself I'm not really overly impressed with any of them, I would have liked to have seen Martin O Neill given a go a few years ago but as was pointed out if he hasn't already stepped up by now he never will.
Could anyone imagine a scenario where Fergi ended up here for a lap of Honour?
But life is funny, could anyone have though that RvP would have ended up there a couple of years ago......
I wouldn't have any manager in this league as the next Arsenal manager. Srs.
I think most of us would agree.
With the sitting board it is pretty much a given that they will choose a manager who has the same ideas as Wenger on all things that matter.
The only thing that matters seems to be money.
High focus on bringing good youth prospects to the club and trying to develop them won't be abandoned when Wenger goes.
The Club living within its means won't change with Wenger either.

I've always said that the next manager will be given a poisoned chalice, he's on a hiding to nothing, he won't be able to fix up 7 years of decrepit mismanagement on the budget they'll give him.
He probably won't have his nous for skimping and hopefully will bring things to a head.
To make things even better for you Gus - I'd put good money on the board wanting to continue with the same 'brand' of football as well.
Well again there Rex, Wenger changed it before Bernie came in, it's his creature and neither he nor anyone has gotten it to work in the PL, so a poor mans wenger has even less chance.
I don't want another Wenger.
There I said it.
If we're going to continue with the same style of play, buy the same type of players, make the same mistakes and still stay trophyless then I don't see the point of hiring a new manager because no one will do this better than Wenger.
If we do get a new manager I would honestly want one in the Capello or Benitez mode, more focused on the defensive aspect of the game in order to give this squad balance. Graham inherited a defensive minded team and added his attacking flair to it to create the perfect blend and now we are an attack minded team so that's why I want the next manager to be more defense oriented in order to create that blend again.
Yeah and anyway I believe we aren't living anywhere close to our means.
But we're shit at attacking, too.
Then which would you say is stronger or has been stronger over the past 8 years, our attack or defence?
I thought so

Why add "there I said it"?
