Just watched The Avengers. First superhero movie I have enjoyed from start to finish since Dark Knight. And a very different movie to it. I had been disappointed by the last 3 Avengers flicks: Thor and Captain America couldn't carry movies on their own and Iron Man 2 was loud and gaudy without being gripping. This movie did a good job of showcasing all the heroes, presenting interesting battles amongst these volatile collaborators, throwing in dollops of side-splitting humor that didn't feel out of place in the action, and having an interesting (if over-matched villain). And this was my favorite Hulk. Thought Ruffalo did a great job.
Only actor who was underutilized was Skarsgard, but I'm sure he had fun just being part of this action extravaganza. 9/10
I hope Jerry Bruckheimer watched this movie and learned how to make a summer action flick that doesn't insult the audience's intelligence and assault their senses.
