I think it looks too much Bioware, but we'll see. It would be nice if Scott surprised us with something good though. Or even remotely entertaining. He owes us that much after his last film. Even Mel Brooks made a better Robin Hood film.

Yes, unspoken in my last comment was that the Russell Crowe Robin Hood was one of the worst "reboots" of a beloved folk hero that I've ever seen.

Ending a Robin Hood film with Robin mashing some Frenchman's head in with a mace in the shallows off of Dover was a crime against English heritage.

Is Black Hawk Down any good? I think it's the only notable Ridley film I haven't seen.

Unrelatedly, I watched this old Buster Keaton film on the weekend:

It took ten minutes to get going but when it did, it was seriously funny.

Ridley Scott decided against featuring Xenomorphs (the titular Alien of the franchise) in the film, as "the sequels squeezed him dry, he did very well... and no way am I going back there." Instead, this being an indirect prequel to Alien, he decided to feature an Xenomorph ancestor/parent.

I saw The Deep Blue Sea last night.

No, not the excellent and hilarious ensemble cast shark attack flick with a side helping of LL Cool J. The mediocre post-WWII romance starring Tom Hiddlestone and Rachel Weisz. 6/10.

Conceptually, yes. And it's underlying socio-political message is similar, but Hunger Games is a bit more sanitised and less brutal.

Watched John Carter. Way better than Avatar. Actually liked it quite a bit, but thought it lost its way in the closing sequences on Barsoom. The coda with his nephew was cute though.
