I like the sound of the premise of The Raven. I sort of love films in which writers' creations come back to haunt them in some way - like In The Mouth of Madness, or Secret Window, or Misery.

There's something compelling about taking that person who's been devoted to brutal, unrestrained fantasies of horror out of a comfortable armchair and putting him on his mettle. You both relate, while looking forward to him getting at least a mild kicking.

The bridge of the Prometheus seems to be the same, and there's the egg, so yeah, hopefully there'll be some kind of tie-in.

Definitely excited.

Anyway, has anyone seen Safe House? I was faced with a choice between that and Marigold Hotel the other week, and plumped for the latter because I was with the Mrs. Enjoyed it, but still keen to see Safe House...

Probably just teasing to be fair but the similarities are endless. Either Scott is playing an elaborate joke or it's a straight up prequel.

the only problem with it being a prequel is that the suits look that much better than the ones in Aliens

yup, not supposed to be a straight prequel.. had started out with that plan, but morphed into something that "could" be considered a prequel, but could also be a stand-alone movie in itself.. dont care.. looks fantastic

The idea of "plot" in the world of Alien is a bit secondary anyway - to the emotional impact for a guy of looking at some poor sod get "impregnated" by some kind of face-hugging fanged killer insect larva, and then have it conduct an involuntary Caesarian section from the inside.

Hope they don't leave those body horror aspects too much out of Prometheus now I think of it.

Apparently, Ridley Scott was inspired to make Prometheus based on the idea of humanity being created by ancient aliens/astronauts, for those who have any interest in that sort of thing.

I think the trailer for Promotheus is pretty disappointing. Not sure what I expected to be honest but I get a bad vibe from it. I don't like the aesthetic look either.

It looks absolutely beautiful to me, but Ridley Scott hasn't made a real thinkpiece in decades.
