Watched "Page Eight" on American TV last night. David Hare screenplay and director.
Bill Nighy, Rachel Weisz, Michael Gambon among a star studded cast.
Intelligent story, superb acting, although Judy Davis is a bit over the top.
Contemporary spy story, Bill portrays Johnny Worricker, a senior intelligence analyst with MI 5. Torturing prisoners, top secret file - Page Eight, a grimy British PM portrayed by Ralph Fiennes, villanous Americans, it's all there. Plus the subplot with Rachel Weisz and her tragic story.
Bill Nighy as a ladies man, a charmer is a fundamental part of the film. So much so that I wonder if the alternative film title could be "The Loves of Johnny Worricker".
For fans of spy films, well worth watching.
