Tinker Tailor is an acquired taste. I liked it, found it engrossing right the way through, the friends I was with hated it, really hated it. It is very slow and very British, definitely not the thriller a lot seem to have taken it for. Thought Mark Strong was brilliant in it, even more impressive than Gary Oldman.
Acquired taste is the perfect way to put it Ricky. I just felt it was very slow moving and I did not feel anything for any of the characters, they all lacked some charm and charisma. I mean dont get me wrong, I enjoy films with a lot of dialogue but I just felt it was very dry and bland. It was the polar opposite of a movie like Pulp Fiction.
Then again its the sort of film you have to be in the mood for. I guess for our generation when you think of a spy movie you think of bond or bourne and this is nothing like that. As Ricky said, its not the sort of film that will play wide, it does plays to a certain audience and in fairness it doesnt try to be someting its not but it just wasnt for me.
