No offense, but the thing you asked about in the spoiler tag was a huge part of the entire main plot. Fair enough that you weren't a big fan, but it couldn't have made any sense at all if you sat there wondering about that, so I can understand not enjoying it that much.
Also, casting Daniel Craig and having him talk like that might not have added anything to you, but did his casting take anything away? I mean, I think it's a strange question "what's the point of casting him". He's a good actor, what would be the point of casting someone else in his place?
Speaking of Shannon (Asterix), just watched Take Shelter. Great movie, and like in almost everything, Shannon is awesome. It's not the same type of movie, but I think it manages to convey a constant feeling of dread sort of like Hereditary and The Witch.
