I actually think most of the hate comes not from people who loathe the Twilight movies but those who liked them. He's done everything in his power to distance himself from them.

But yeah, Pattinson is decent. I kinda want to watch that film he did last year where they're in space and everyone masturbates constantly. Batman was a bad move for him though. From one nutty fandom to another.

High Life has been in my watchlist, but I haven't gotten myself to see it yet.

Not sure if Batman is a bad move though. Risky, definitely. People have probably not been more negative to Batman films in two decades, but Matt Reeves is making the movie. After his two last films I do believe he's a really good director, and certainly much more capable when it comes to action than Zack Snyder.

Twilight aside, he's been decent in some indie type movies in the last few years. He's shown he's gpt chops. The role of batman is different gravy though. The whole mainstream process and dealing with obsessive fans - it could chew him up like it did affleck. He's got alot of public perception to turn around, as he's still known as 'twilight guy' to 90% of movie goers

Yeah I'm surprised he wants to do Batman but I suppose its hard to turn that down. Massive career risk though, if it flops or even just gets a bad reception critically, which is likely, he's back to square one.

Pattinson's been in a few notably bad indie films, and they're the only ones of his post-Twilight career I've actually seen.

Both Cosmopolis and The Rover were remarkably shit, for example.

Apparently he's been in good stuff, for instance people tell me Good Time is good but I've yet to see it. Kristen Stewart on the other hand is a superb actor.

What’s the downside if all he’s been doing are indie flicks. He can go back to that and claim that summer flicks aren’t his strength. But if he nails this, he can go back to making those 20m dollar checks. Get some nice cooked food, some nice clean clothes

I'd like to think of myself as a feminist, but I don't think she'd make a good Batman.

Kristen Stewart would kill a "Gotham project" in some role. Far better actor than others who've gone before her like Anne Hathaway, Katie Holmes, Michelle Pfeiffer, Kim Basinger etc.

Watched Searching.

The original concept and execution were interesting but I never like films that fully commit to an idea and then crowbar scenes to fit the concept and turn it into something ridiculous. There were at least a couple of scenes there that we should not have seen. Would have been better to mix it with traditional filming methods, or if you wanted to stick to the format they did, then leave some gaps.

Also not sure why a film that clearly wanted to make a point about the nature of the online world, social media etc. borrowed a story that was more like your below average crime novel rather than delving into social media in much more detail than at a superficial level.

Loads of illogical moments in there too.

It’s a 5/10 for me, I’m surprised by how highly rated it is. Being unique doesn’t make something good. It could have been a lot better.

I don't remember a lot of details, but I remember that a couple of friends and I liked it a lot when we watched it.

Climax is a pretty interesting film. An exploitation film that subtly undercuts the whole idea of exploitation by pullings its "actors" off the French club scene and getting them to choose and improvise the acts of sex and violence it depicts.

I watched 21 Grams couple nights ago. Del Toro and Naomi Watts were great but I really hate Sean Penns face. The complete lack of chronological order was interesting, confusing at first but well done in the end

[Spoiler]I didn't understand whether Watts died in the end or not. She was shown lifeless in the pool but in the final credits she was alive?[/spoiler]

I've never seen 21 Grams or Babel. Three Burials is a really terrific western, though. One of the best in a long era of people attempting to make films just like it.

It has the added novelty of being a Barry Pepper flick too. That bloke has one of the most underrated careers in modern cinema. He has a great knack for picking films like Three Burials. Anything he's in is almost always worth watching.

Watching Scent of a Woman after a long time again. What a great movie. Timeless.

Watched The Lion King. Amazing score, great voice acting, fantastic CGI, but the movie wasn't really that good. The way they struggle with showing the animals' emotions because they're supposed to look realistic is the movie's downfall. I got chills multiple times and almost teared up a few times, but all of that was because of nostalgia, not because of this movie in particular. They also botched a certain Mufasa scene, which is unforgivable.

My wife watched it and was also complaining about the same thing with the emotions. She prefers the exaggerated cartoon emotions.

Finally watched Spider-Man: Far From Home today. By the time I go to the end I though to myself in the wake of Marvel’s Phase 4 announcement, they’re really going to have to do groundbreaking things. I felt like I’d watched this superhero movie before. Maybe the Dr Strange multiverse movie will shake things up a bit.
