Pretty much this. Probably the best action scenes out of all MCU movies. Certainly much less forgettable than Avengers 2.

I disagree. I liked Black Panther, but it's a pretty run-of-the-mill MCU movie.

Civil wars main set piece is still the best action they've ever done for me, but this has multiple scenes that are only just shy of that CW scene

Just went to see Infinity Film and I took a large drink in with me.

For the last forty minutes or so I was close to having a ruptured bladder. Finally walked out five minutes from the end and missed the big finale! 😃 Fortunately I got to see roughly what it would've looked like in the post credits sequence.

Honestly, what a ridiculous epic. I can't say I've liked every instalment of the MCU, a lot of it is pure shit, but the sheer scope and size of the whole project are undeniably historic.

I can sympathise. I had to go too and timed it during a lull.

How big is a large drink? I always go before I leave home and then I buy a 0.5l soda or something and I've never had this problem. My friend who bought a litre struggled though. 😆

Wasn't a big one for me but I just end up needing to go if I take an iced drink. I usually just get a bottle of plain water.

edit: Yes, it's an age thing. Also, the movie is 2 hours 20 minutes long.

I liked Only the Brave a lot.
[spoiler]I hadn't heard the story it was based on. During most of the movie I thought there was a little too little drama and I kept thinking that there wasn't a story to be told here. After seeing the movie this was probably intentional. All the time spent with the characters made it hit me much harder when everything suddenly went wrong, and it was probably the director's way of showing us how quickly that can happen.[/spoiler]

Just watched Infinity War. Thought it was just good but not great overall.

[Spoiler]What they did a good job of was juggling millions of characters and scenes. What was tough was watching a movie with so many characters and scenes, and feeling like you’re often jumping from battle to battle with a short prelude in between. Agree with Gazza that it was overstuffed. And as much as it is clearly a Thanos movie, I struggled to connect with him and his cause, and not because he is a bad guy. You can connect with villains like Killmonger, Bane, etc. They just need to be well-written or maybe have a cause you can relate to.

Having watched all the movies in this calendar year, I’m finding that the single character movies are more my favorite adventures. They tend to have more tightly knit stories where you can really focus in on on individual protagonists’ ambitions and motivations. Throw in a great villain and you haves real winner. So far, I’d say the two movies that really stand out for me in the MCU are Winter Soldier for its intrigue and Black Panther for it’s world building. Both for the quality of the interaction of the two main characters. The original Iron Man is also surprisingly charming despite how annoying the character can be later on.

😆 I should mention I'd had a couple of drinks first. Just didn't plan my outing that well all round. Who knows, it may be age.

@Quincy Not sure of the exact size but it must have been about a litre.

I saw The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society with my 12 year old daughter (because my wife and elder daughter saw it on a girls night out). I really enjoyed the book and the movie does it credit. Mike Newell does a great job keeping the suspense going as the events during WW2 are pieced together. Just the right blend of humour, romance and pathos as well.

I then watched Dr Strangelove with my son last night as part of his high school text requirements. I hadn't seen it before and only really knew the line about "gentleman, no fighting please, this is the War Room". It's a strange movie no doubt, with some laugh out loud moments and plenty of chuckling ones.

The names are great - Turgidson, Bat Guano, Kissov.

I assume the strange wheelchair bound doctor in Rocky Horror is a direct parody of the parody that is Dr Strangelove?

I watched "comment c'est loin" recently, a quasi-autobiographical film on Orelsan and Gringe (Casseurs Flowteurs). Decided to watch it since I'm a big Orelsan fan.

I wasn't expecting much but the film was surprisingly good! Really good soundtrack too

I watched Infinity War a week ago and, looking back, I really can't remember anything about the movie apart from the Iron Spider Man suit being pretty cool. I suppose they did a decent job making Thanos some what relatable.

Looking back, I liked Thor Ragnarock because of Taika Waititi and Chris Hemsworth having surprisingly good comic timing. Black Panther was also good because it felt quite grounded but the rest of the movies are becoming much of a muchness

Lovely movie. Your interpretation about directors way of showing how quickly things can go wrong is seems valid to me. Not sure if the director meant it that way, but it surely had that effect on me.

Also caught 'Two hands'. A 90's aussie flick starring heath ledger and Rose Bryne. Fun watch. Rose bryne looks divine. Was surprised I didn't even know her name despite having seen her in a few movies over the years.

Saw annihilation last week. Hated it.

Beautifully produced, but I was hoping all the horrible characters including Lena would die sooner so that it would be over. The ending was a slap in the face. Completely meaningless.

I found the whole thing such an enticing but ultimately monumental waste of my time that I picked up the book to see whether it was the source material I should be mad at...

Absolutely loved the book, however, and I plan on finishing the rest of the trilogy. What sets the book apart from the movie, in my opinion, is that the development of the main character (which is intelligent and insightful, rather than a soap opera clown) is so satisfying that at the end you can happily move on without further explanations, just like the biologist.

Two Hands is a great little movie. Australia made some very good films in the 90s. Not sure what has gone wrong since.
