Still early in the semester, so I've watched quite a few movies lately. Enjoyed all of them too.
The Accountant. Cool action movie. Nothing new or unexpected, but it was very entertaining.
Deepwater Horizon and Patriot's Day. The former was much better than I expected. I get all weepy about true stories like these, with pictures of the victims at the end and so on. Patriot's Day wasn't as good, but both was tastefully made imo.
Whiplash. Fucking great. J.K. Simmons is brilliant, and even Miles Teller, who I normally don't like, was good.
Hacksaw Ridge. I haven't cared particularly for Garfield after his Spider-Man, but now I remember why I did before. He's very good in this one, and so is the movie.
Ajeossi (The Man from Nowhere). I haven't seen much from South Korea, but maybe I should watch more. It's a revenge tale ala Taken, Man on Fire etc., just much better. The final showdown was incredible.
Oldboy (2003). I wasn't sure what I thought about it during the film, and actually wondered what the hype was all about. I figured it had to be the hallway fight. After the ending though... Wow. Did not see that coming. Now I suddenly feel like the movie was excellent.
