It's the kind of flip flopping that's extremely childish. It's still weird to look at Trump's Twitter account and think that it's a president posting those things.

I think the last Meryl Streep film I watched was Doubt, which was great but Amy Adams and PSM were both better in it. TBH I've seen very few of her big oscary films.

Yes Twilight was pretty shit (but have you read the books?) but she's been incredible in pretty much everything she's starred in for years (including MTV vehicles like Snow White), and both her films with Olivier Assayas are among the best of the decade in my opinion.

Hmm just off the top of my head (and without commenting on the films in which they appear, many of which I hate) …

Good: Emily Blunt, Viola Davis, Isabelle Huppert, Naomie Harris, Michelle Williams, Michelle Yeoh, Rosamund Pike, Kate Winslet, Jennifer Lawrence

Bad: Carey Mulligan, Jessica Chastain, Judi Dench, Cameron Diaz, Halle Berry, Kirsten Dunst, Nicole Kidman, Anne Hathaway, Natalie Portman

Out of the above I think I rate Michelle Williams, Kate Winslet and Jennifer Lawrence ahead of Meryl Streep as actors, though it's a bit of a weird idea of ranking given roles, situations, opportunities etc.

Swinton I've gone off as she's become as wasted due to typecasting as Helena Bonham-Carter after too many Tim Burton projects, but she's great on her day. She is obviously an eerie and not conventionally feminine presence so isn't likely to be seen as a romantic lead, but she's perfect for (and saved) Jarmusch's Only Lovers Left Alive.

Alicia Vikander is very beautiful of course, didn't mind her character in Jason Bourne, didn't mind her in Ex Machina either, she was fairly bad in the generally awful Light Between Oceans, which was a massively disappointing film, not too sure overall I don't think I've seen her in a role that would showcase her emotional range just yet.

Cate Blanchett is awesome. Vera Farmiga is sexy af.

Agreed, they're both great though I think Cate Blanchett's sense of the kind of role she should take isn't ideal. Vera Farmiga was really good in Up In The Air, bit of an underrated film.

Agree with most of that. Harsh on Anne Hathaway though and maybe Carey Mulligan.

Also add Glenn Close to the list of overrated actresses. I think people just rate her because shes been around a while. She is truly horrendous in so much stuff. She single handedly ruined a season of The Shield and ruined an otherwise decent show in Damages. Also on Damages Rose Byrne is a decent actress, I reckon in a couple of years she'll nail some dramatic parts once she has moved on from comedy.
