Lone Wolf and Cub did indeed end. Has spin-offs. Right now I'm reading webtoons so have lost track of much manga, but Dungeon Meshi is great.
For Anime in the movie format, my favourite so far is Paprika, but honestly I've not watched enough of those suggested to me. Wolf Children is apparently really good.
Outside of the movie format there's a huge amount of stuff. My recent watch is Psycho Pass which is great. I do wish there'd be more of the mature stuff instead of silly shonen "teens take on the world" nonsense.
