Haven't seen Blood Simple or Fargo. The Big Lebowski's great and I got 30 minutes into No Country For Old Men and then had to go out, but I was really enjoying it. I don't like a few of their other films that I have started watching and couldn't get into - Raising Arizona is a recent one, and last week I watch A Serious Man, forced myself to watch the whole thing because I've heard nothing but good things about it, but was bored witless for most of it. I find them a bit hit and miss.

True Grit I really like the look of though.

see, for me, the Coen brothers' serious movies are decent/good, but their comedies are not funny to me.. at all..

As comedies of sorts, Fargo, The Big Lebowski, and Burn After Reading are all hilarious. Intolerable Cruelty's not half bad either.

About the only film by the Coens that I didn't get was A Serious Man. That was a miss for me, but I know others liked it. That and their remake of The Ladykillers, that was poor.

It's only got a 5.8 on IMDB but it's really pretty dang funny if you let yourself get into the style. An old school comedy that could've been a silent film starring Buster Keaton.

True Grit I really like the look of though.

Well, watch them. And yes, Burn After Reading is excellent (imo) though perhaps not to everyone's taste. Though their most highly regarded film, I believe, is Miller's Crossing and I didn't get that at all.

Hit the nail on the head. Didn't find The Big Lebowski or Burn After Reading even slightly funny. I really wanted to like them, but I genuinely disliked them both.

No Country for Old Men is great.

I found Fargo moderately funny, but Big Lebowski is one of my all time favourites. No Country for Old Men has an intense feel about it that only quality movies can generate and was a great watch but, for some reason, I never felt that it was special.

you obviously like the Coen brothers brand of comedy.. i personally think its just not funny.. in fact, i turned off Big Lebowski after about 25 minutes i was so bored with it.. i just find it to be too off-beat

I watched The Big Lebowski about 2/3 years ago and found it completely boring and unfunny. After everone told me I was wrong, I watched it again last year. Nothing changed.

Just not for me, I guess.

Saw the worst film in ages last night.

I think it was supposed to be a tense spy thriller but it was probably the dullest least thrilling spy movie that I've ever witnessed with the most ridiculous plot that at one stage involved terrorists strolling freely and armed to the teeth around some unnamed London airport.
I only stayed to the end because I thought it could not get any worse.
The only redeeming feature was the performance of the lead actor Guillaume Canet who at least had some presence and managed to be convincing in the most daft scenarios.

Walked out of La Prima Cosa Bella on Wednesday night. It's not that it was particularly awful, but I'm fucking sick of that genre of film and couldn't see the point.

Just saw "The Social Network." I'm assuming the Zuckerberg's character was grossly exaggerated, but entertaining nonetheless. Certainly not worthy of an academy award nomination, but obviously those things are massively political.

i actually dont think his character was exaggerated as much as you think it was.. i actually thought it was one of the top 3 movies of the year... i guess i wasnt expecting much from it when i saw it (didnt originally want to see it, but we thought we'd give it a shot, and were very pleasantly surprised)
