Genuinely don't get the Bieber thing, I've had to buy what is essentially the same album of his three times. He's a walking pound sign.

Actually I saw my first Bieber clip about a fortnight ago, and it's basically just Aaron Carter on crack. Of course he's popular.

I also now understand who my 15 year old brother is trying to look like with that ridiculous haircut ...

Saw True Grit last night. Absolutely loved it. Think the Coen brothers are becoming my favourite film makers.

Saw Unknown with Liam Gleeson last night - enjoyed it. Not as good Taken, similar-ish in style, a little more of suspense and alot less action, but still a good watch.

Really got to go and catch True Grit.

To be honest I'm not a big fan if the Coen brothers, but the Johnny Cash trailer and Jeff Bridges being in it are enough to make me want to see it.

Incredibly overlooked film. It has broken records for being the lowest grossing film to receive a Best Picture nomination apparently.

Yeah, figures. I couldn't believe that it was nominated to be honest. Stuck ut like a sore thumb among the rest of them. Very atypical choice. I'm glad it got some recognition though. If the academy awards widen their scope a bit I might just consider watching the show next time.

If you want a film with a similar type of feeling you should give "Out of the Blue" a try, by the way. It's about the Aramoana massacre in New Zealand. The cinematography is similar to "Winter's Bone" in a lot of ways and it explores similar themes. Very uncomfortable film to watch but I liked it a lot.

Missed Winter's Bone in the cinema the first time around but there's a one off screening in a couple of weeks.
From what you're saying bw and Klaus it's better viewed on the big screen?

It's a beautiful film. It's set in the Ozarks, which are a sort of dilapidated coniferous mountain range in the south of the US, apparently peopled by some of the creepiest hillbillies this side of Deliverance - or your favourite The Hills Have Eyes.

I heard it had a touch of the Hills Have Eyes about it alright.

Quite grim, a friend of mine saw it and said it was "hardcore misery".

😆 It's got a strange tone to it. As Klaus says, and it's not giving much away, Ree, the character played by Jennifer Lawrence, is pretty awe-inspiring. But I won't spoil it - go see.

How can you not be a fan of the guys that brought you Blood Simple, Fargo, The Big Lebowski and No Country For Old Men to name just four? Obviously, I can't include True Grit as you've not seen it yet.

No, it is a film- I may have said before- I do really want to see. It's on my Love Film list, but I might just spring for it.

Of the Oscar contenders I've seen, my list would be:

1) True Grit
2) Inception
3) Toy Story
4) The King's Speech.

I do want to see Black Swan, but Jo ain't too keen.
