DiCaprio finally gets his Oscar - probably not his most memorable role but don't think he had much competition this year. His speech was awesome though

He deserves it for his career so I can't begrudge him. Happy Spotlight won too and that Mad Max won so much. Disappointed Innaritu won best director.

For some reason I came to think of the movie Lorenzo's Oil a few days ago. I've only seen it once, and since it came out in -92 I guess I must have seen it around that time. I remembered it as a powerful film, but seeing it now was very different from how I remembered. My firstborn was born in -01, and I certainly saw it before becoming a parent myself. Anyway, saw it again tonight, and cried like a baby several times during the movie. Horrible disease ALD, and I have such an immense admiration for that boy's parents.

I watched Creed the other day too. Was alright I thought, but I thought it would be better considering the praise it has received. As a boxing flick, I enjoyed Southpaw quite a bit more.

I managed to watch Southpaw a while back, was pretty disappointed after reading some good reviews here.

'Southpaw' was absolute trash, bar the boxing scenes. 'Creed' had bad boxing scenes, everything else was fine.

Real Steel is the best boxing movie. Hugh Jackman and fighting robots. What's not to love?!

Triple 9 is a pretty good watch. Some gritty , tough scenes violence wise. Cast is the sickest I can remember (Omar is a Tranny hooker)

Pleased for Di Caprio, well deserved after all the years (though I've not yet seen this film). Surprised at all the success for Mad Max, I didn't like it much. Although I did watch it on a plane and found it difficult to work out who was who a lot of the time so it probably wasn't meant for such a small screen.

Chris Rock's opening was great. The awkwardness in the room was so palpable.

What I enjoyed most about the room during that was the way they gleefully clapped and laughed for his "in 63 black people had real shit to worry about" stuff. As they thought it undermined the criticism of them but by the time he was out right calling them all racists they weren't laughing any more.

I never watch the Oscars so obviously didn't watch it this time either. Had to watch Chris Rock though in light of the stir he caused. Brilliant monologue that, and kudos to Chris Rock for having the balls and talent to say what he did, the way he said it.
