Glad to see im not alone in thinking its a fraud of a movie.

Harrison Ford in Star Wars gave me hope for the Blade Runner sequel. Villenevue less so.

Seen a few film critics questioning whether Villeneuve's an indiscriminate technician who'll direct anything so long as he can show off his ability.

If that's so then whether or not the Blade Runner sequel's any good might depend on the screenplay. Unfortunately Ridley Scott's track record with the vision of his projects in recent years is terrible, and most of the stuff I've heard about the film isn't promising.

Just watched 'Sicario' last night and i might say its the first film of Villeneuve which left a sour taste in my mouth afterwards. Every other movie of his i had no big qualms over, but in this both the plot and some of the characters didnt give off the right vibes and too many times i felt the scenes were unnecessarily long.

Polanski's Knife In The Water is incredible for those ensemble scenes—rewatched it over the Christmas shutdown.

Saw Hateful 8 in 70mm which was great....appreciate the old style of watching a movie (overture, no previews, intermission) and of course what it enabled them to do.

Overall, I liked the movie but felt the [spoilers] late introduction of Channing Tatum detracted a lot from the plot and story. Little lame to introduce a joker into a high stakes card game like that.

Sicario

Saw the Martian staring Matt Damon.

Though nothing of it beforehand but I was surprised how good it was. It was not cheesy, was quite heartfelt and Damon was brilliant throughout.

Many underlying positive 'life' messages in the film and I highly recommend this movie to anyone.

The soundtrack was awesome and added to the quality of the film.

The Martian was a great survival movie and a somewhat unconvincing rescue movie. First and second acts much stronger.

Just saw Star Wars with the family for my birthday. Thought it was great fun and they balanced the old and new really well. Made me think that sometimes movies get way over-analysed (kind of like football games) which for me tends to take much of the fun out of it.

Saw Point Break over the weekend, probably got the worst film I'm going to see in 2016 out of the way early I reckon. Utter shit.

Saw the trailer when going to Spectre. Looks like a rehash of the other Point Break with Swayze and his surfer buddies.

I watched the old one as a warmup, it's gained a slightly undeserved cult status over the years, but trust me, the new one is utter shit, it's a travesty of film-making by comparison.

😆 Oh my. "There is, literally, a point in the movie where the characters talk about reaching the "point break." ... Here, a character helpfully explains, it's "the point at which you break."" I had a laugh to myself when I saw the trailer before SW. "Extreme athletes using their skill to disrupt the international financial markets" and "To catch them, he must become them" especially got to me.

Yeah, they sort of fucked up the one-hander dialogue, but no, it wasn't totally awful.

No, not saying it was an awful movie, but i just felt they overdid this aspect of the movie by 200%.
