Hope not. UEFA surely MUST know that this whole FFP thingie comes down to the decisions the make now; if they give Man City and PSG, the biggest 'offenders', a slap on the wrist, then the whole project will crumble. UEFA has put in a lot of time, and prestige, into this; they will lose face in a big way if they can't make it work.

It will be increasingly harder for them to meet the criteria anyway. The allowed losses will get smaller each year and repeat offenders will get punished harder. If Uefa want this to work it'll work. Reckon they just want to be a bit pragmatic about it right now. They have very little to gain by making enemies out of the top clubs. The idea is to get them to work with them, not against them, to get them to spend less.

Yep. I don't really get the logic that 'they have to show they're serious now'. If the likes of City and PSG continue to fail they'll just get bigger punishments next year.

Reading up on things, it's quiet clear they're keen to avoid legal challenges and battles in court. Easiest way to do that is to get the offending clubs to try and comply rather than alienate them completely.

Well, I expect PSG, City, or both, will drag them to court of arbitration regardless. That is where the real battle will be.

I think they will take it on the chin as long as they don't get banned from the competition altogether. They will issue some sort of statement saying they're mightily displeased but in reality this is exactly what they wanted. They've known about the restrictions for years. The only wild card in all of this is if Arsenal and Everton decide to kick up some fuss and demand a harder punishment for City.

I hope we will too! However, if UEFA's decision is to not let PSG and/or Man City play a decent number of their star players, then I very much doubt they will 'take it on the chin'.

The sanctions are sounding encouraging—but the main thing is just for them to stop crushing the market with £200k/w wages and £30m fees for every player in the side.

A club with our wealth should have a realistic hope of signing top tier players, that's all I really want.

21-man CL squad instead of 25; 60m euro fine over 3 years; no rise in CL squad wage bill allowed. Same as for PSG.

What would that CL squad reduction mean in practical terms?

According to the telegraph they've been given more time to try and negotiate a settlement before the deadline. Apparently they're also looking like the only ones who might decide to challenge the decision. Does that mean PSG will accept?

Should put a big dent on their plans for the summer. In fact it actually looks like they'll be forced to cut down.
