Even as an Arsenal fan, I'd say Man U are more likely than we are to win either the PL or the CL in the coming years. You just have to look at the last decade to come to that conclusion. As a player, when you want to win stuff, would you favor the club who has been winning things regularly for the past 20 years or the club that has won nothing for almost a decade?
It's not as black and white as that. Players could favor you for what you could offer in terms of the city you're based in, teammates, manager, wages, etc. If Utd go for the same player as we do in the summer, say Diego Costa, why would he take a step down to join them? He'd be effectively moving from a CL side to a Europa League (or worse) one. You can argue about the wages but it's not beyond us to offer him a very competitive one.
Why do you think Manure are more likely than us to win the PL or CL in the coming years? They're going to be in a massive transition, potentially out of the CL for a good few years with huge uncertainties over their management. Us on the other hand have a young settled squad that is hitting it's prime, are already competing for titles and are 1 or 2 players short of really becoming a powerhouse team.
