Has anyone mentioned Moyes has got almost the exact complete record this season as last season's Everton at this stage? The only difference is goals conceded where United has concede 1 more than Everton.

He is a very consistent manager

I can't believe he didn't sign a central midfielder. It was so obvious they were never going to reach Champions League without one.

It's a testament to their invulnerability under Fergie that even a couple of months ago half the posters here were swearing they'd recover to a Champions League place.

A couple of months ago they could still have signed the players they needed to turn it around. Instead Moyes went and signed another #10 because Rooney, Kagawa and Fellaini were worried that they might be a fourth man short for the position.

Feel sorry for Mata (as much as it's possible to feel sorry for a football megastar).

He's gone from being individually demoralised by Mourinho to a heavy burden within what must be one of the most demoralised groups within world football at the moment.

Going to have a little separate celebratory drink when we finish ahead of Van Persie though, regardless of what else happens this season. You can call me small time if you like. 🙂

I'm slightly worried that they might be too poor at the moment, actually. We've seen how much Liverpool have benefited from being out of Europe altogether this season, and they don't have half the money or pulling power that United have.

I'll be perversely impressed if they keep Moyes in place for next year, what with the season they're having. Would be a statement.

Hmmm. They need to make choices, Burns. The leaders in that dressing room or Moyes. They can't do this again. These players have sabotaged him in addition to his own incompetence

It all comes down to whether they still think he's the guy who can rebuild the team in my opinion. Otherwise they might as well fire him right away because the damage is done.

I think this squad would have been as bad with Ferguson at the helm too for the record, but Ferguson probably wouldn't have wasted two transfer windows like that.

I don't think that's going to be much of a problem. Giggs is 106 and only has a year or two left to live, Ferdinand will retire and Evra will leave. That only leaves Rooney, and the fact he signed a new deal tells me that he's okay with Moyes.

There's van Persie of course but he needs United more than they need him. You don't rock the boat when you're 31, are on mega wages and have a body held together with duct tape.

as you point out, the most vocal guys (Rooney, Ferdinand, Vidic and Evra) have been sorted out. Giggs and Dutch Skunk remain the biggest problem. one is going to be part of United for life and the other is their 2nd highest paid player, so some choices will have to be made.

i would like to see them stick with him and work with him to have a solid transfer window in the summer. managers are well compensated for the risk their job has, but i do think that owners are too quick on the trigger these days

If I was Moyes I'd try to sell Van Persie in summer. Seems both parties may be amenable.

Bring in a centre half, a striker and a couple of Lars Benderish dudes and you're back at the races. Sell anyone that doesn't fit.
