Blu-Ray is a bit of a joke for me. I have hardly ever watched one, and I think optical media are going to be dead as a concept (entirely supplanted by large network storage devices and solid state media) within about 5 years.

Sony's first party studios make better games than Microsoft's and it's not even close, but you'll be paying for online on PS4 too.

I'm going to hold back on both until they show me something worthwhile, the announced games are mostly a pile of shit and I don't need emulation or new ways to control my tv.

Controlling the TV is a nice gimmick, if it works well I wonder how many will buy it on the back of seeing something like that?

It's not something that appeals to me though, who wants to talk to the TV?

I've always had a Sony console for every generation so i will definately buy PS4. Only had 360 until PS3 was released and its been gathering dust ever since.

Baffled me how some folks stuck with PES over FIFA despite how awful the former was compared to the latter, simply because it's called Pro Evo and they couldn't bare to give it up and admit defeat.

The only thing that makes me want to stick with the Xbox is the controller design, it is, at least for me, the more ergonomic design. I'm not sure that'll be enough in this case. Will wait and see how things go.

Hehe, no i wouldnt but so far i have always liked everything about Sony much better - the design, the controller, the exclusives. So i will not change unless they start offering clearly inferior product.

How does it connect, USB? Can you run games from an external drive?

Yeah, USB.

On the wii U it is recommended to use a Y connection or one with a mains adaptor for extra juice, but it has worked fine with my standard USB cable and I've seen no noticeable problems with data access speed or anything like that.

Should be even less of an issue on the Xbox one as it uses USB 3.0.

The PS4 can read external drives, you just can't install games on external media, but you can read pics, films, and music. Just like on the PS3.

They mostly are, now that microsoft has backed down.

PS4 has better hardware and an upgradeable HDD.

PS+ is 50 per year, whereas XBL is 60.

Xbox requires kinect to be on all of the time.

PS4 is about 100 cheaper.

Xbox requires an extra subscription to stream netflix

Those are the main differences now.
