Here are the specs by the way:

8 Core CPU
64 Bit
500 GB HDD
8 GB DDR3 RAM
USB 3.0
802.1.1n Wireless with Wi-Fi direct
Blu-Ray/DVD Drive
HDMI 1.4 In/Out

GPU specs haven't been revealed yet, I think I read that the CPU and GPU are an AMD APU though, similar to the PS4.

How much would you guys reasonably pay for a new console?

200-250 is the most I'd be willing to pay really.

Anything more is hard to justify but them I'm more of a casual gamer.

Sweet spot is £199 in my opinion as that pretty much puts it in impulse buy category for most.

I'd pay £400-450 though, no problem. Assuming you got a good ps3 unit on the day of it's release, that's roughly a fiver a month until now; chump change.

Thats what i usually do but i've played fuck all PS3 lately and have no real urge to play, so might just go ahead and get the new one straight away.

All these anti piracy measures being brought in by Xbox is suicidal. I can't believe an organisation that big would be that stupid. This leads me to believe this is going to be an industry wide measure, and that Sony will have similar measures in place.

Of course they will. They're just keeping mum right now because of the backlash.

I'm getting neither of these consoles, but then again I rarely play on my Xbox 360 or PS3 anymore as it is. I see zero benefits in limited technology and closed off platforms. The PC market is far from ideal but at least there's an existing dialogue about digital rights management. There are several movements who are actively working to limit the publishers' influence over the finished game. Just look at how badly EA screwed up with Sim City when they tried to launch an always online system which was practically identical to how the Xbox One will work. Maxis might just have made their last game because of it. People don't accept it because there are alternatives. And that's essentially what the next console generation will be about: to launch platforms where the publishers have all the power and the consumer has none. They're capitalistic nightmare machines where games are viewed as services and products rather than cultural works.

I'll probably go Sony/Nintendo again but it depends what games Sony show later. I can pretty much buy a nintendo console blind as it is guaranteed to have stuff I want on it; Sony don't really have that pull anymore.

Nintendo basically stopped competing for AAA titles, huge $20 million game productions. Sadly I agree with Klaus in that Sony will probably have identical features as the x-one with regards to digital rights/piracy protection.

The games on display for the x-one looked great though, TITANS and RYSE looked nice so far.

They make nintendo games; some of the best in the entire industry in every possible way. They spend what they have to and deliver. Who gives a shit if it cost them £2 or £100m. 😆

Never mentioned quality of the games. Just the types of games are different on Nintendo systems than on others, less Call of Duty's, BF's, big budget blockbusters/sequels/m-rated games. It worked for them, with the Wii at least.
