I'll be getting the PS5. I want the PS exclusives like Horizon, Persona and Spiderman.

Same. Though for those who don't care for the PS exclusives the Xbox is definitely more powerful.

Thanks everyone - it made me try to analyse what I like about those games. I definitely like the beauty of the Skyrim world, and the ability in both to travel about and get lost in side quests.

I really don't like a "camera hovering above" view, like in Assassins Creed, so I'll avoid any that only have that option. I need first person to be happy. I also like the ability to craft weapons and upgrade things - Skyrim armour and crafting, and Fallout weapons building is quite fun too. I enjoyed building bases in Fallout too, although not to the extent of some Youtube videos I saw - yikes.

Could be a choice between Red Dead and Horizon I think - I'll watch some videos.

They're both pretty cheap at the moment, both have some of the most beautiful worlds in gaming. 2 of my favourites of this generation you can't go wrong really.

I have to say despite my earlier comments Microsoft are really not making it easy to stick to the Xbox. We're supposedly 2-3 months away from release and there's precious little detail or anything to really get excited about. On the other hand I've seen few things from PS5 that make me want to jump ship.

Microsoft no longer see themselves going head to head with Sony and Nintendo. Make sense since gaming is almost an after thought for them.

I mean I don't really buy that. If you're making the most powerful console out there that just so happens to be released at the same time as your main competitor it must be at least partially because you want to compete on that front. Sounds like he's bracing for a loss more than anything.

The multi-platform strategy is great and is one of the things I like, I've signed up to Game Pass Ultimate too which I think is good value for money. But it doesn't mean you can neglect your bread and butter, otherwise you'll lose those subscribers too.

Xbox Series S announced and priced at £250. Some have speculated that this means the Series X won't cost an arm and a leg either, but I reckon it means the Series X will cost £500+

Series S doesn't appeal to me but I reckon it's a clever move from Microsoft.

Bought Crusader Kings 3 the other day. Interesting game, but sooo many mechanics and details. Right now I'm just trying out a bunch of different things and getting my ass kicked.

So its just a less powerful version that plays at lower res? Thats a fucking brilliant idea at that price TBH. A lot of casual gamers wont give a fuck about the specs as long as they can play the newest games.

They’re going to bleed Sony dry with this. The tables have turned. MS comes into this generation as a cash rich company that can also leverage its cloud division. Sony MUST make money on consoles. They’re screwed.

Familiar with Paradox games? The game mechanics is similar to the rest of them (EU, HOI etc).

It's a strategy game set in the middle ages. You play as a ruler (and his/her corresponding heirs) and try to conquer stuff. Either through war or politics.

No, I'm not familiar with Paradox games but it's definitely got my attention now! Seems like its a game that gets better with time thanks to expansion packs so will probably pick it up at some point down the line.

If it was as easy as simply making a cheaper, worse console would mean that Sony was screwed there probably wouldn't have been a rivalry this past decade. Might buy the cheap Xbox in addition to PS5 if there are many games I want to play.

CK is an awesome series. Unbelievable detail and losing, badly, is still fun. When family intrigue gets to the point where you marry someone in the hope that they poison your own son from another marriage so you don't end up having to play him when you die, and then you execute her to show strength to your people...etc.
