Played a little of the campaign at my mate's; was decent, not much different from MW2 but then that game is mostly about the online.

I'm giving it a miss. Zelda is out next week plus I have a few other games to get through so probably won't buy anything for a good while.

You know it Captain. Gave Pro Evo a miss this year as well to be honest. Play it over at a mates every once in a while as I don't get much time to play but the only game I really can't wait for is Skyward Sword. Just hope it's not a let down.

I want to play Skyrim because of how well received the series has been (and it's possibly one of the few games that'll work on my laptop) but I haven't played Oblivion or any of the other titles. Still worth buying? Does seem like something I could waste my life on. 😛

Definitely. There's no continuing storyline anyway. The games are only connected through mytology. Oblivion was a real mess of a game too, so you didn't miss much. If you want one of the older ones you should have a look at Morrowind instead. Possibly the only game to date that has gotten sandbox-style gameplay right.

it's a great starting point for people new to the series, more accessible than previous iterations. they've pretty much taken the best game mechanics from fallout 3 and put them into a fantasy setting, then boosted the graphics.

I'd say it's more of a mix between Morrowind and Fallout 3. Love it so far. I couldn't stand Oblivion because it ignored pretty much everything that I liked about Morrowind. Instead of exciting environments and places to explore it had a world map full of useless forests that looked the same in every direction. The aesthetic look and feel of the game was boring. Adventuring outside the main storyline was pointless when the game used a level-scaling system to make sure both loot and enemies adapted to the player's level. There were few interesting sidequests too and those fucking oblivion gates were terrible. Elder Scrolls have always been about letting the player decide how he or she wants to play the game, but Oblivion more or less forced you to stick to the main quest if you wanted to get something out of it. It was basically like a Rockstar game.

So far it looks like Skyrim has found its way back to what used to make these games great though. Loving every minute of it.

i've only played 2 hours, but the first side quest i completed was a fetch quest, and there were nice creative twists along the way, not just the usual "enter dungeon, kill everything, loot". if that's a sign of things to come it'll be game of the year material in my eyes.

slayed my first dragon as btw klausie. then got cocky and tried taking on two wandering giants and got absoultely demolished. great stuff 8)

Played MW 1 (by far the best CoD) and 2 but I'll skip MW 3 as it's becoming increasingly boring and predictable.

Don't know yet whether I'll buy Skyrim.
Played Morrowind and Oblivion (sadly), but don't know if I've any time left for such a monster of a game.

Especially considering that ANNO 2070 is just around the corner.........

So many games, so little time.........

Sounds as if I, who is a big fan of Fallout, will like a game like Skyrim. That about right?

Both are from Bethesda, so you can't do much wrong if you buy Skyrim.

All the test-reports I read about it suggest there aren't many bugs and it runs quite well, if you've no problem with Steam.

I've just picked up a copy of Skyrim because of the overwhelmingly positive reviews it's got, except there's a problem with bugs - hopefully an update will sort that out!
