This was me and its a large part of why I've not bothered with FIFA this year. The first team of FUT was amazing, you could get and trade anyone, up their stats and have whatever team you wanted. I had all ex-Arsenal players who's stats were really low because of their age but I was able to build it back up with boost cards. Great fun. The following year I went mad trading, staying up late to snipe deals at the best times etc Then I got lazy and just started spending. Its a horrible grind opening packs, selling the stuff and saving for players. The game play doesn't justify it and it was more stressful than enjoyable.

Fuck EA, they want to charge us full whack for a game and then bleed you dry in micro-transactions to get any good of the their most hyped game mode.

Maybe it's just me but I only really ever enjoyed playing Fifa/PES with friends locally and at a stretch a few games against each other online. None of the FUT or other online game mode shenanigans. Just never did anything for me. I just always had more fun playing against my mates and people I know. Haven't played a football game regularly since probably Fifa 14.

The game used to be one of the big missing puzzle pieces in video game history. It was already done when Nintendo and EA decided to cancel the whole thing. It looks pretty cool:

Anyone played A Way Out? The gameplay isn't all that, Heavy Rain-like, but I enjoyed the hell out of it. It's exclusively co-op, so you can't play alone, but if you don't have anyone to play couch co-op with you can invite them to download the game for free if you've bought it yourself.

I've stopped playing FIFA altogether for a few months now, it's incredibly liberating, I'm finally getting to play some other games.

Recently purchased Red Dead 2, never played the first so didn't know what to expect, but so far so good. The narrative and story telling so good for a video game, probably better than some TV shows I've watched. It looks absolutely stunning too, almost feel like I'm playing on a next gen console at times.

In my spare time I've also started playing Surviving Mars, good stuff.

Me too. It's much cheaper to put countless hours into FIFA than to buy several story-driven games, but the experience of the latter is much more satisfying. I'm not quite done with RDR2, but it's really good. I'll finish it when school's over in a couple of weeks.

Thats why I didn't buy FIFA at release this year, I just get too sucked into it. Which is where I am now, just did my first weekend league and I don't think I'd do it too often, it requires too much time and effort and the games are more stressful than I like. They give out so many packs and cards for grinding this year though its hard to not take them. And I've had my best luck with packs this year, my teams pretty great now so I'm still enjoying it. I bought God of War a few months ago on sale though and I've yet to start it because of FIFA.

RDR2 is amazing though. I stuck in on last week for an hour cos my internet was out and just rode around killing everyone I met in as imaginative as possible ways, usually with petrol bombs or dynamite. Great fun.

Anyone else playing The Outer Worlds? I'm loving it, its very much a spiritual successor to New Vegas. The new combat systems work really well though. The only think I'm slightly less thrilled about is the planet jumping, I'd prefer one big open world but it works in the games context.

Yep, I'm absolutely loving it as well. The dialogue and the characters are so well written and the combat is surprisingly fun for an RPG. Hell of a game.

Yeah the dialogue is great and the choices really feel weighty. I love that you can choose multiple out comes from what seems a binary decision to start with.

I've been playing Luigi's Mansion 3 lately and I can't remember the last time I played anything this charming. The game is incredible.

Switch has such a huge catalogue of great exclusives now. I haven't played the second one, but I played the original Luigi's Mansion on GameCube and enjoyed it a lot. I can't have been that old, because I remember thinking it was kind of scary. 😆

Good to hear that The Outer Worlds is great, been looking forward to it ever since the first trailer where they basically said that they'd make us a good Fallout game since Bethesda didn't seem to want to. Time-wise I'll probably have to choose between buying that one or Borderlands 3 though.

I'm wondering whether to buy Death Stranding or Fallen Order when I finish Outer Worlds. Both look good, I'm worried DS might be a bit boring. I'll see what the player response is, can't trust critics when it comes to Kojima.

I definitely think many people will find it boring and some will think of it as a masterpiece. Some of the game mechanics sound bizarre, like walking and managing your inventory seemingly being huge parts of the game. Not sure if it's for me, probably not.

Just started my second playthrough of The Outer Worlds. Can't remember the last time I completed a game twice but I'm really curious what happens when I make some radically different decisions and it does not take that long to complete for an RPG.

Just bought Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC. Never played the PS version so I'm pretty hyped to dive into that in the weekend.
