Is Outer Worlds very different to Mass Effect?

I looked it up after Qs raved about it and the description sounded almost identical.

I never really got into ME but from people who've played both it seems to be a "like Mass Effect but good" sort of response. Its very, very similar to Fallout.

For clarification, I assume they're talking about Andromeda? The original ME trilogy is supposed to be really good I thought, though I haven't played it myself.

The original ME (I only played the first two) had a great story and the citadel was great. But the decision trees felt a little on the superficial side (there were consequences but mostly in terms of how you interact with other characters rather than anything material). The gameplay was a chore and very repetitive.

Have you played MGS Phantom Pain Qswiss? I'm hearing the first half of Death Stranding is extremely tedious, but if you enjoyed the fundamental open world set-up and player mobility of Phantom Pain I think it the pay off would be worth it.

Switch Lite is the cheapest way to play it, but personally I'd never give up the opportunity to play on the big screen.

If Death Stranding is anything like Phantom Pain I might enjoy it. Though the open world was kind of empty, the freedom you had as to how to do your missions was amazing.

From what I've heard its the freedom to do things your own way thats the best part of the game. I just wonder if lugging a crate across a pretty open world is going to be worth it no matter what way you pick. It looks like there are some really cool mechanics to the game but it also looks very walky.

Started playing Outer Worlds, which conveniently was on Xbox Unlimited. FWIW it makes mass effect look like a shell of a game. It’s great.

Sorry I meant game pass ultimate. Basically like Playsation Plus I guess? MS had an offer that basically meant you could get it for 12-18 months for £1.

Edit: Ah, it's like Playstation Now. Xbox Gold is the equivalent of Plus I guess.

That's still a good offer! How much is Xbox Live Gold per month? I've never bothered with it before since I don't play online, but I'm a bit skint at the moment so I might give the game pass a try.

Gold is around £40 per year I think. I don’t know if the game pass ultimate offer/glitch is still on (you can at least get it free for 3 months). But when I signed up it extended the trial period all the way up to however long you Gold membership ran for. It also includes PC games if you’re into that sort of thing.

Still, is there anything in particular that would make me buy a xbox one at this moment in time? I'm asking because there are ridiculous deals on the digital one s at the moment - can get it for £108 which is massively in impulse territory.

Thats pretty great. Do you have a console already? Cos Nintendo and Sony have a lot more big, better exclusives. Though for that price it'd be hard to pass up.
