Very interested now in the updated Skyrim special edition. Looks absolutely amazing, is a class game to begin with, and how can you resist the mods? Friendly dragons ffs!

Gonna have to see what happens on the mod side though. Old mods still need to be ported to the Special Edition (this goes for both the PC and the console version) and 90% of the mods out there use script extending programs like SKSE. It needs to be upgraded for Special Edition first and foremost. And then you need something like Loot that can figure out the right load order of your mods and check to make sure there are no compatibility issues. All of this can and probably will be done, but it'll take some time because Bethesda don't own the programs. They're all fanmade. Sony and Microsoft would have to allow them to run on their systems too without any restrictions, and they are a bit touchy about that stuff.

Skyrim as a game needs a remake badly though. It's a 32 bit game getting a 64 bit upgrade. They had to compromise so much with vital aspects of the game, such as the way it handled memory, to make it work on a Xbox 360. And then they just ported the same version to PC. The result is a game that constantly crashes, slows down and put a low cap on the textures. I spoke to one of the developers a few months back and he described it as a technical nightmare. According to him it was a big contributing reason they didn't make more DLC after Hearthfire, Dawnguard and Dragonborn. That's probably going to change as soon as Special Edition is out. They'll be able to release more big expansions for it in the future now.

So, the only advantage is that this Skyrim will be incorporated into a 64-bit engine instead of the 32-bit engine that has given modders a headache for the past 5 years.

That means that all of the amazing mods out there that were created for the 32-bit interface are now going to have to be revamped for the 64-bit engine and god knows what kind of chaos will be created by doing that.

The mods themselves will be really straightforward to port once the script extension programs work though. It'll happen automatically in most cases. The biggest worry is custom made textures and such, but no modder or illustrator worth his salt would save only the lower-resolution renders.

The biggest mistake was to limit the game's performance to console standards to begin with. This is a real headache but it's going to be highly beneficial in the end. It's a way to future-proofing the game, both on PC and consoles. It'll most likely mean new, big expansions while we wait for Elder Scrolls VI too, and they won't look or feel outdated on the new generation of systems. People who already own Skyrim with the addons on PC through Steam will get the Special Edition for free too, which is a nice touch.

This looks incredibly intense. Honestly I probably couldn't handle this. I was scared of the zombie creatures in Uncharted 1. 😆

I have no idea what this is about. I guess I'll wait and see, but it's Kojima's first game since leaving Konami, that alone makes me excited.

Also God of War, which is already mentioned, and Horizon: Zero Dawn, which we knew about long before E3.

I assume that he's talking about handicapping. It's finally been proved that regular versions of a card are boosted in stats more so than the special edition. Of course EA calls it "problems with the players" after someone have finally figured out what people have been noticing (and being called paranoid for) for so long.

This one makes sense though. I have an 86 rated Serie A team full of TOTW and TOTS players and a second mediocre 82 rated PL team, there is a difference in how they perform but not that much.

Wonder will the market crash now. And I wonder will there be refunds for packs.

thw fifa thing is huge for a bunch of reasons:

the ultimate team portion of the game is monetized, and its now been proven that it is broken. people spend money on packs to try and pull in forms, and those in forms are actually broken
EA trumpets the chemistry system, and the chemistry system is broken
fitness is also broken for non-day 1 cards
for years, EA banned anyone who talked openly about the possibility of handicap or scripting, and now its shown that a lot of things people suspected were actually real.
this raises all kinds of questions about what else in the game is broken/impacted

i always felt like something was off with in-form cards. the general consensus was always that you shouldnt bother trying to grab a player's first in-form because it wouldnt make a significant difference, but now it has actually been confirmed that a day 1 card with a chemistry style boost is actually better than the first in-form. it also proves that you can just use any team you want with players out of position if you use their in form cards. an in form that shows up with 1 chemistry because they are out of position and have no links actually plays at 4 chemistry. its a complete and total joke.

the funniest thing about this is that guys have gone back and tested older fifas and it has been there since like 2011. so either EA has always knowingly put this in there, or they are the most incompetent company ever, given that people have been complaining and bitching about this for years, and now its been proven to be a real thing

That sort of manipulation (or incompetence) doesn't surprise me. It's the folks who say they were winning too much so EA decided to make it harder for them to win by rigging gamesare are the ones that I think are ludicrous.

but this does raise the question about the legitimacy of any of the online stuff. what if stats change in-game? people are now going to question everything about the online system.

I've definitely had stretches in FUT where I go on a long-ish winning streak only for it to be broken by someone who a) isn't very good but has a goalkeeper who plays out of his skin and, b) where he/she scores with pretty much his/her only shot of the game while I on the other hand miss sitter after sitter from chances where I score almost every time normally.

Call me a tin foil hat kind of guy all you want. 🙂
