Anyone give the PES demo a go? Normally don't bother but this has been getting good reviews so I thought I'd check it out. One the first game 11-0 with Bayern which goes against the review which said it's harder to score though I guess that's down to the difficulty setting. Gameplay is dodgey, feels like you're trying to dribble in water, passing feels a bit too assisted and easy, same goes for finishing, scored some cracking goals. Main plus point is it was quite fun smashing all those goals in but I'll be sticking to FIFA.

Played another game in the hardest difficulty, drew 2-2 so a bit better, dominated the game (15 shots to their 3), they just seemed to be a lot more efficient when they went forward. It's ok, feels a bit cheep. One of my goals was a result of an absolute howler from the keeper, passed it to me from the goal kick.

Rocket League looks absolutely mental and I hope my laptop can play it.

i like the overall feel of the gameplay over fifa 15, but certain bits and pieces are really unsatisfying, like shooting

Movement feels a lot better than in FIFA which makes it a bit more fluid, but it's ruined by the ease of looped overhead passes. That was an issue in FIFA 13 or 14 too.

PES16 is looking like the same deal as PES15 to me. Loads of potential but some flaws that just ruin it. Some of the animations are amazing but there are just as many that look strange or really bad. The AI still never fouls you. I've played over 10 games on the demo and literally not had a single free kick. There is also loads of clipping and the ball passing through player's body parts. Oh and not to mention those moments where you go in for a tackle, win it but then you just lose the ability to control your player any further which allows the CPU to take back possession. It's infuriating.

Might skip over football games this year. Totally lost patience with FIFA. The scripting is so blatant it's ridiculous.

Rocket League is all I'm playing at the minute. Totally addicted and it was free too! You can't complain.

Rocket League is ok. Good for free but I wouldn't pay more than a tenner for it. Too random.

Either scripting is real, or the game has issues. Either way, it needs to be fixed.

It's funny, it never even occurred to me that FIFA is scripted until I read people complaining about it on here and other places. I recall someone from EA saying they've not used scripting since 2009 or something and I'm inclined to believe them.
I always assumed it's momentum, form of the individual, tactics (either formation or switching to ultra defensive/attacking) etc. And even then, I've never noticed it to a large degree.

My only real complaint with FIFA is that the gameplay has become a little dull and slow.

Have you set game speed to fast? Anything else is way too slow.

Also EA have given conflicting statements with regards to scripting in the past. They are full of shit.

Yes it is.

Random how? You're racing about in cars smashing into a ball. It's gonna be a little chaotic. Maybe you're not very good at it? This is exactly why I like Rocket League in contrast to FIFA. It seems fair. When I win/lose, play well/badly it always feel it's down to me. The complete opposite to FIFA where I can trash someone 6nil and feel I didn't even try and then play another game where no matter what I try nothing will come off.

You don't always win when you play football, same goes for Fifa. It has its flaws but people complaining about scripting in it make me laugh.

Rocket League gets boring very quickly. Decent for casual gamers I suppose. If you only have a half hour its an ok way to pass time.

Yeah, I don't really get why people ignore all the other possible variables when it comes to a change of fortunes and jump right to blaming scripting.

I'm as casual a gamer as they come but Rocket League has had me on the PS4 for nights in a row for hours at a time so I couldn't disagree with you any more on that tbh. I'm playing with actual mates I know though which could be a factor

I don't want to always win when I play FIFA, the scripting working in my favour is just as bad as it is the other way. I just want to feel I'm in control of what happens in certain situations. I'm not. It's blatant.

I think you ignore individual styles, personal form, etc when you jump to conclusions like scripting.

People claiming late goals are a sign of scripting are the worst of all.

Also I've read interviews with quite a few game developers and almost all get accused of rigging things, scripting, etc and its almost always false.

Compensate for a poor AI?

Don't play enough FIFA to know if it's true or not but the AI itself is quite average.

I feel there's definitely a handicap advantage though
