It's a sign of the ridiculous approach we've had toward the transfer market for the best part of the last decade, and Wenger's well established inability to judge the quality in his own squad. Nothing surprising.

I can't believe they have 3 good players for the playmaking position, goes a long way filling the void of VDV.

Gawd even their official site is ahead of the news feeds.
So it's a pre-contract to join them in July then.
Ah well, Bale should be packing his bags for Madrid around that time.

Would have liked us to have gone for him. He probably wouldn't lift us to another level but would be a solid signing, considerably preferable to Gervinho.

One rather awesome stat courtesy of me.

Last 3.5 seasons in the Bundesliga, he's completed a full 90 minutes 35 times. Abou Diaby has 27, in the same period.

Annoying that Wenger decides to confirm, the day before he signs an agreement with Spurs, that our scouts had been watching Holtby.

I'm not sure what the relevance of Diaby is; Diaby was the same age at the start of that period than Holtby is now, and in one of those 3.5 seasons Holtby was a 19 year old on loan who only played 6 times. In the 2.5 seasons since he's played 90 times for Schalke & Mainz and has probably about 20 international/U21 appearances on top of that.

The Diaby bit is just tongue in cheek. But Holtby's stamina is shite. He's going to get wrecked

I'd be gutted if, in the next two transfer windows, we couldn't find someone better, even disregarding the fitness concerns.

Not bothered. Tidy player, but not all that. Spurs welcome to him so long as Wenger's masterplan doesn't still revolve around Ramsey in 7 months time.

Looks to have good technique and composure, but we have cazorla and wilshere with eisfeld waiting in the wings for our attack minded mids. We need players elsewhere, strong defensive minded mids and sharp quality players upfront.

Given the dross in our first team we have massive potential to improve
