Is he really good? I've only seen him in that Champions League game and all he did there was to run around and chase the ball.
He's one I've been watching for a while now, even watch a Celtic game now and then to see him play. He's not technically bad at all, he's committed, strong, has good feet when he needs to, and can ride a challenge. Wins a lot of headers and can take a shot, too. Scored some absolute crackers.
Ball bounces off him every once in a while, and sometimes he forces it (think Song lumping balls over the top straight to the opposition) but he can play a game-winning forward ball every now and then, too.
Thing about his tackling that I really like is he manages to get the ball to one of his team mates more often than not. Tackles with real purpose in that sense, rather than just leaping in and hoping someone picks up the second ball.
For me, Wanyama or M'Biwa would be the ideals for the type of midfielder a lot of us are calling for, with Wanyama edging it. Diame would be the poor man's version other than the fact that he already plays in the PL, so what you see is what you get.
I'm a sucker for these types of players, though, so definitely biased.
