Yeah I'm not Saudi, nor am I from the middle east and I lost certainly am not white, but I have a pretty good job that pays well so I decided I'd go for it.

Definitely agree with you with regards to the heriarchy though. Tbh as a black man I can see the shitty way they treat people especially people of colour but luckily I don't have to deal with locals too much. I go to work, go home, go out to eat, get groceries or the likes but that's about it. Keep to myself and my family on the whole.

That said there are lots of foreigners in Jeddah so it's not too bad most of the time as long as you don't put yourself in a position where you need something from a local, which luckily I don't.

Thanks goon. Might be something to look at. Unfortunately my joint issues aren't specific to a certain area. I feel like an old man sometimes when doing weights, not because of the effort or muscle not being able to do the job, but because the pain in my elbows, shoulders and knees when doing workouts.

I've started rowing because of my knees and my shoulder. Lots of injury history catching up with me. Still running in nice weather but rowing has a thousand times easier recovery for me these days.

Done, 50 km, 4h47. 5;43 per km. Cold as hell, still can't locate my balls, but I'm sure they'll be back. I was fine last night, but my knee is done today, can't really walk, can't bend it, every step is pain to be honest. And the charity got enough money to build 2 houses for 2 families in need

So I did another marathon this weekend, way to fast as I did the last in december, my knee is fucked again. 42.2 km, 5000 ft elevation, -7C outside. Fell on my back a few times as everything was frozen and there where parts of the race where I just slid my way down on my ass, as it was way too steep to run. This is the last one for me, gonna go back to running every other day hitting 150km per month but no more ultra, no more marahtons or competitions. Thats enough, I'm losing to much weight, muscle and not getting anything from it, just pain.

So I just started playing football again after nearly 11 years out the game and noticed, aside from the obvious lack of fitness and getting gassed after 5 minutes, that my touch and dribbling has gone to shit. End up falling over quite often when trying to trick the defender and end up looking like someone who's never kicked s ball before. Used to be a pretty good dribbler when I was younger so this was a big shock to me. To the point I kept falling back deeper and deeper having started the match as a forward and ending up in defence and avoiding the ball as much as possible when were in possession. Confidence shattered lol. I'm in my mid 30s now and thinking of giving up cuz I feel useless.

I just started running and doing some light strength training again last week. Fortunately it’s winter time and there isn’t much footie being played in general, but even if there was I don’t think I could muster up the courage to get on a pitch again. First, my knees (left knee especially) are killing me these days, and then my fitness is in the gutter.

Not so worried about my touch. Fitness is half the battle. The touch will come back once the body is coordinated again.

I felt exactly the same as you 8 months ago. Started playing with some lads 'n' dads (depressing to fall under the dads category now) after not having played for years, and to begin with I felt extremely unfit, and my brain and feet couldn't compute. Didn't help that I also now require glasses, and can't get on with contacts, so I struggle with distances and long balls heading my way. Stick with it though mate, because slowly you will begin to feel your fitness come back, and when you're not having to concentrate on that aspect, you'll find it'll help massively.

Of course, the days of being young and relatively half decent are long gone, but you'll begin to enjoy it again.

Yeah injuries are a bitch. Ended up last week with a tight hamstring. Thus week was even worse. That said I probably should have come off in the first 5 mins after a groin strain. Barely able to move during the last 20 mins lol, more so with the injury though tbf I was pretty gassed.

Played decently this time around though haha. My team won 14-6, I scored 4, felt much better on the ball though maybe it was playing in a better functioning side and being afforded more space which in turn gave me a bit more confidence.

For sure. Glad you managed to get back into it regularly. It's pretty enjoyable once you play with people on a similar level. Guys I play with range from early 30s to mid 40s but some of them have so much energy. One guy I'm sure is in his early 50s but he can run all day.

I started playing football again this week as well, although not with a 11 years absence.

When I was studying I played 3-4 times a week, great way to work out since I hate pretty much everything else. However as I got a job I haven't played at all. Not doing my fitness any favors. Currently playing for a team in Eastern Norway's 7th division ( :lol🙂 but it's great fun playing again. For me it's the only way to work out without constantly thinking about how much you hate it.

Pretty much. To put it in context, there literally isn't a lower division. There are just tons of 7th div leagues.

Things are a bit different here. All organized football is part of the league hierarchy (except for "company leagues" where local companies play against each other indoors) so I'm pretty sure the lowest div is our equivalent of Sunday League.

Sorry to ruin my reputation as a pro already.
