Nah, Armor, I'm a short fella. 175 cm, competed in under 73 kg category. Went from 78,6 to 72,6.
It's pretty common in sports with weight categories to lose about as much in weight before competitions.
The diet needs to be such, that the body uses everything you eat/drink. In the final day or so before the weighting, it can even go below that- just to get everything unnecessary out of the system. A bulk of the weight lost is down to getting the percentage of liquid in your body to as low as possible.
After the weighting, which is usually on the previous evening or in the morning of the competition day, it's important to re-hydrate yourself and eat carbohydrate-rich foods that make for a quick energetic boost, which is vital for a good performance after a wearying diet.
Note that this kind of extreme diet does not have long-lasting results. Usually, you're back to your regular weight in about 3-4 days.
I have to say, it wasn't the most successful of competitions I've ever had. Lost 2 and won 1 of my three matches. Nevertheless, I'm happy to have made the effort.
