I'm a 5 a side (futsal) player and have been ever since I left school. I prefer futsal as it's more of a technical game and you get a lot more of the ball. Been playing futsal at quite a decent level for about two years now. Where I live the gap between amatuers and the pros are very small. I've played teams with national players and come out on top. There's a lot of politics involved and there are tons of players scattered all over the country who could easily play for the national side but never get the oppurtunity. Just last week we played a team 3 current national players and beat them 6-5. I've also played in tournaments in neighbouring countries and it has been good fun. Train about three times a week so I am able to keep fit and play a game or two a week depending on league schedule and friendlies.
I'm terrible at football though. Played futsal against a bunch of guys and one of them asked if I'd like to play for his Sunday league team. Despite having not played football for over a year I agreed. It was a horrible experience. Haven't played football since.
