I have the feeling he made a big deal of it because Giroud 'had a go' at him at least three times beforehand because of his shitty crossing.
His crossing to be fair is pathetic. So many times a simple cut back will lead to goal and he cross high and overhit in all 3 games this season.
I rewatched the match yesterday. Still think Mertesacker is much maligned. On the 2 penalties appeal it could have been given had the ref been retarded but luckily he got the correct calls. He had some great passing straight to Podolski or Cazorla which led to good attacks as well.
There was one moment where Sahin and Podolski tangled and fought with each other, pushing each other away even after the ball is stolen by Abou. 😆 Cazorla goal was all about his movement which was fantastic, but imagine if Reina saved it routinely? Giroud and Podolski was open waiting for a cut back. Would have been livid. Same in another instance where he shot just wide, Podolski made a great run which is similar to our first goal.
Think Giroud is abit unlucky myself. Worked very hard on the day, showed superb movement in the first goal to create a little bit more space for Cazorla. Chamakh can never do that. MOTD's appraisal on Diaby and Cazorla was spot on for me. Seldom do they get it so right.
