I think both he and Mertesacker were poor. By far the two weakest links on the field. I lost count of how many times Sterling got past Jenkinson. Per didn't do much better with Suarez. His passing was shocking too. I expect Koscielny to replace one of them next weekend but whoever's left need to raise his game.

Just watched the game again and Cazorlaa is such a genius. His horizontal movement between the lines to make himself available and to draw out defenders to create space for other to run into is top top quality. He reminds me a lot of Bobby during the play that lead to the second goal. Exquisite movement.

I don't think Per was shocking. Not his best game, yes. But he handled Suarez well. Far better than Kos did last season.

His passing was off though.

Can't see Jenkinson being dropped. Arsene kept complaining about his lack of proper fullbacks when we had our crises last season and had to play centre backs as fullbacks. I'm pretty sure Jenkinson has started every single game where he's been fully fit and Sagna's been out.

I like Per but I don't think he handled himself well yesterday. Liverpool did what we should've done against their centrebacks and put pressure on him when he tried to pass it out from the back. It almost ended up costing us a few times. I think there were excellent penalty arguments for Liverpool on both occasions when he brought someone down too. In the first situation he clearly got a toe on the ball but he didn't exactly poke it away, and after that he brought down Sterling. In the second situation the only think that's saving him from a red card is a terrible dive from Suarez. He's got no business grabbing his shoulder there. I don't like to admit it but Webb cut us a lot of slack.

So how many times did Sterling get past Jenkinson? We must be watching a different game.

Per made 2 superb last ditch tackle which saved our arse and had an 88% passing accuracy. Vermaelen had 82% for comparison's sake.

Liverpool were pretty good yesterday.

Not convinced by Suarez up top on his own, but they look like they will do well once the midfield settles down a bit. Think Rodgers should perhaps make the three a bit more rigid, at least for now.

Those stats doesn't tell me anything. They don't show the five-or-so passes where he conceded possession to Liverpool while trying to play the ball out of our own box.

Was Mertesacker guilty of that? I don't really remember him culpable. Maybe I would need to rewatch it closely.

Thought Jenkinson kept Sterling at bay. He tackled him perfectly everytime he tried to get past. Conceded quite a few corners but most important had the upper hand

Mert played some pretty stupid passes yesterday, mainly in the first half.

Thought jenkinson improved as the game wore on. He did well with Sterling second half. That maybe because Sterling got tired or maybe jenko just got his act together. Either ways I can't wait to see Sagna back.

Which showed that Sterling is clearly a good prospect. Most of the attacks came through him. Liverpool tried to attack our weak link but Jenkison coped better than expected. I thought Chamberlain didn't have the chance to go forward because he was mainly trying to nulify Sterling. Credit to him for that.

Jenko definitely got better and I thought he handled Sterling quite well. But he's still doing some really daft stuff that you don't expect anywhere near this level.

Ramsey did more to help nullify Sterling, although the game had been won by that point. Sterling ran us ragged though, very impressed by him and he was just as good against City last week.

By that I think it's an overcooked statement. Sure he holds the ball sometimes, but so what? The issue is generally that he then passes it to the nearest opposition player; particularly after he has done the hard work of beating two players in the middle of the pitch.

It's a bit like the Vermaelen going forward thing. It doesn't do very much at all from a defensive stand point at all and isn't unsettling. His mistake is usually that he steps in too quickly to win the ball ahead of the opposition striker and it is disastrous when it doesn't come off.

He also passed it to the right player most of the time. Quite often the frustration would be he held it too long only to pass to someone he could have passed to right away.
