If that's what they agreed on, then we want no part of that. What's the point if we're right back to needing to fill that void in a year regardless of how Sahin performs? It would be pointless, if that is indeed the agreement of course.

Insane amount of money yes, but only the end of the season will tell if it's worth it. They are desperate to get back into the CL.

Anyways, Sahin's debut for them could be against us next week, it will be interesting.

Liverpool managers don't get long usually. He probably is more worried about getting the players through the doors now, than how myxg they're costing.

For perspective, Real Madrid signed Sahin for little over 7million. They are crazy up there.

Excellent deal for both Madrid and Sahin, they stand to gain everything from this.

Well, actually they can.

They are paying a £5mill loan fee. For one year they will pay 70% of his £125k a week wages which comes to £4.55mill over the year. So including his salary he will cost them £9.5mill and they have thrown in some extras on top to help him relocate as well so wouldn't be surprised if the total is £10mill. Mate it is complete madness what they are doing but they are more desperate than us and like it has been shown haven't got a problem throwing their money about.

That is fine but considering how R.Madrid are resisting so hard to let him go there is a very high chance they want him back next summer so he has cost them £10mill for one season. From what I've read and I wouldn't take this as gospel we offered a £2mill loan fee and less % of his wages with a £14mill buy out clause. I think that would of represented a fair deal but I think R.Madrid wouldn't budge over the buy out clause so we walked away.

Most here, at least two weeks ago, were prepared to give up a lot less than that to keep RVP to his contract and let him walk for free next summer.

Personally, I'd take Sahin at £10m for a season. A lot can happen during a year. Arsenal fans, more than most, have in the last few years learned that what the player wants is extremely important when a decision has to be made about his future. Sahin here for a year and it is quite possible that he himself would want to stay instead of going back to Madrid and a bit part role.

Wenger's reaction to being asked about Sahin in the press conference was definitely strange. My reading of the situation is that we've spoken to Sahin and he wants to come here, much more so than he does Liverpool, but Real Madrid won't agree to a transfer clause in the contract, or at least not one that's acceptable to us, and so we're still talking to Madrid to try and make that happen, but it's not looking good. Whereas Liverpool are happy to take him on loan and lose him in 12 months, and he's happy to go there and get regular football. Still think Sahin would pull out at the 11th hour if we could find an agreement with Madrid. And, after listening to Wenger, I think there's still a small chance it could happen.

Utter bullshit from wenger, whichever way you look at it pool got the better deal, and why? because wenger is insistent on being stingy. Considering how many good deals we have had in previous years, a few deals where we get slightly mugged is hardly going to end us. In an ideal situation we get a buy clause, if not we should accept sahin on loan for a season.

I hope your right ricky because sahin is going to be a solid signing for whoever he signs for.

No. He doesn't want to work hard with a player, and give him a central role in the team, when he has no control whatsoever over where he ends up at the end of the season.

It does surprise me when people go on about the £10m for Sahin for one year as if the money were coming out of their own pockets.
If we're not going to be in the market to sign a player of his calibre permanently, which lets face it we often aren't, then I have no real objections to us loaning them if it makes us a seriously better, stronger team.

Rex has a point, especially where Sahin is a special player. But then again I agree with Ricky. Say no to being a feeder club for Madrid. Ridiculous to loan a player with no option to buy. Liverpool are so low. We are not Wigan or Bolton

I agree with Wenger here.

If we can't keep him, I don't want him.

We're not a training ground for Madrid and Sahin by all accounts love it at Madrid.

If pool thinks he's gonna stick around there and play for a club that's 8th in the league instead of the champions of Spain then they are in for a shock come May.
