Wenger would have zero hassle signing M'vila if he so wished.

Sounds like good guesswork anyway. The player clearly preferred Arsenal so if it fell though it's probably from our side. Maybe RM refused a buy out clause.

Anyway, if this means we get a real defensive midfielder then I'm happy.

Another rumour doing the rounds is that Sahin himself was not interested in anything more than a loan period whereas we were insisting on the option to buy.

This whole deal no deal deal business has been a bit of a drag.

Looking forward to hearing what Wenger has to say tomorrow

fucking hell if this thing falls through i''ll be massively disappointed. as i see it sahin pretty much the only excellent footballer out there we could actually sign this window. we don't need any more average players who'll do nothing but fill up the squad. we need proper world class players.

Like I said the other day, I read part of an interview in Bild last week (can't find it anywhere!), and Sahin clearly gave the impression he saw a future for himself at Real Madrid. That a loan was a temporary solution. Got the feeling then that he wasn't coming, but certainly looked good for us a few days back. I can understand Wenger not being interested in just a loan though. There's got to be a transfer agreement in there, or it's not the right move for us, in my opinion.

I want M'Vila, and I don't think Wenger thinks we have room for them both (I'd have them both and ship 2 or 3 others out!). As long as we get M'Vila, I'm still pretty happy. Bloody annoying though, because I really thought we had him a few days back. Still, look at the bigger picture, Liverpool get a season out of him, then he fucks off, that'll be hard for them to swallow as well.

This deal was always odd. Particularly if Cazorla is going to play centrally. He basically plays the same position as Wilshere and Arteta who are among our best players. Where in the world would Sahin fit in?

Agree. M'vila would not come close, nor would any of the others to whom we've been linked.

I agree on the loan, whats the point in spending a year getting Sahin back to his best only for him to go back to Real? Makes no sense for us. For someone like Liverpool its a different story.

I don't mind getting M'Vila either, we need that sort of player. I just worry he's a few years off Songs level. I really think we've left ourselves short by selling him so easily this season.

This squad needs a versatile defender and a technically gifted wide forward more than a central mid IMO

i don't see the point in getting someone like m'vila. decent player, but i doubt he'll have a significant impact. we'd do just as well without him.
